Same here, though I hope I post pics of the 10 point. peep Just a little ways down Macabee and he gets into my territory. They do travel a ways during the rut out there.

Seems like a lot of the big mature bucks go underground in this area. We hunt hit list bucks when archery season begins, trying not to pressure our property with 10-12 different sets with different wind direction options. The last 2 seasons it seems like when the pre-rut begins, we get less and less game cam pics and no sightings of any of these bucks. In 2014, I had cam pics of a great 11 pt. from mid July thru bow opener. I hunted this deer 11 days that October, with only 1 sighting at a distance of 80-100 yards. I finally caught up with him the day before gun season opener, he was trailing a doe and she brought him in @ 25 yards and I let the Mathews eat. That's the last buck I've harvested on our property and since then, the shooter bucks seem to know when gun season begins and ends. It's funny when you check your game cams in January and 1 or more of the target bucks you've been after all season magically re-appear. Come on October

I have just one year of experience but the rut really seemed to be on the last week of October into the first week of November in young county. Saw several doe being tended and some bucks we hadn't seen show up.

Looking forward to end of October this year!

Great deer! We're on the south end of 3109 ... seems like all our mature bucks have pretty much been nocturnal for years. Poachers have only made it worse.

Thanks, the GW is aware of the road hunters in the area. I've talked to him on numerous occasions in person. He will park all night inside some landowners gates on Murray Cemetary Rd. With hopes of catching these idiots in the act. He has told me in the last 6-8 years, he's arrested 12-15 road hunters in the general area. He thoroughly enjoys arresting these pricks!

Dang nice bucks sir. I guess you're up the road a bit from me. I'm off Indian springs road across the road from the Brazos and all my deer sightings have been almost non existent in the last couple weeks. With everyone starting to feed, hogs, and acorns.

is Brent still the GW there? We were at 209/3109 and had road hunters on 3109 and trespassers from the river every year...so much so that we didn't go anywhere near the river opening weekend and Thanksgiving weekend....too many trigger-happy idiots roaming the river. We witnessed stupidity on an epic scale on several occasions. Brent was a busy man during deer season.

Good luck to all you guys hunting out that way....I'd sure love to find a place in that area again...miss it.

I'm in between Newcastle and Elbert, just north of the river. We're seeing a lot of deer so far, just not really any shooters.
