Just for grins, what is your favorite gauge/shell MFG/load for dove hunting. For me 20ga/RIO/7.5

16 ga handload with 1 ounce reclaimed shot. So a mix of 7.5, 8 and 9.

Any heavy field load, 1250+ fps, 11/8oz 6's or 71/2. Neither me nor my gun is picky. I prefer 6's if I am down south slaying white wings.

16 ga handload with 1 ounce reclaimed shot. So a mix of 7.5, 8 and 9. Interesting concept....what ratio....how does the shot pattern? What choke? Don't mean to highjack but have considered doing something similar in 3" 12 gage......

No pattern, but does fine on clays and dove. Full choke Ithaca 37.I am just too broke to buy shells when I have 50 pounds of this shot I bought when it was cheap. Edit reclaimed shot is what they vacuum off the skeet range occasionally. So the ratio is whatever. Cleaned, re graphite and bagged, it used to be quite inexpensive.

My 12 likes AA Sporting Clays in 7.5 and my 20 likes Rio 6 or 7.5 high brass 1 oz loads. But if the birds are flying good, it really doesn't matter. The cheapest shells you can find will work.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Interesting how nobody said 8s but when you go to Acadmy or Dicks 90 % of the dove loads for sale are 8s.
So hard to find 6s

About 5 years ago, I quit shooting #8s at dove and quail. All I use them for is sporting clay.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

So hard to find 6s Until late sept and Oct #8 is all I want to shoot. Where I hunt the birds are close and plentiful. I got all my sons and buddies on 8's also. And all of them shooting Remington heavy dove loads.
