got on the internet at work.

Asked Google if wild boar was considered red meat.

Answer was yes, it is not the same as domestic pork.

Then asked if feral pig was considered red meat.

Could not get a definitive answer to that one.

So I thought I'd come here and ask.

In your opinion, is wild boar red meat?

Is feral hog red meat?

By red I mean, when cooked does it resemble cooked beef more than cooked pork?

A pig is a pig is a pig....
Most feral hogs are cross bred with domestics along the way...it's all the same.

All "feral hogs" were domestic pigs at some point in their past....generationally speaking....true wild boars (as in Europe) are still pork....a pig is a pig is a pig....

A domestic was wild originally. Most feral pigs have never even seen a domestic hog much less bred from one. Porcine is all pink on the inside. Whichever side of the fence it was bred.

One shot is all it should take.

The OP's question was: Is feral hog red meat?

Quote:
fe·ral - - adjective (especially of an animal) in a wild state, especially after escape from captivity or domestication. "a feral cat"

scratch try the taste test, wild boar, domestic piel, & feral hog will all taste a little different, same as deer feed once corn or strictly browse... Also preperation of meat makes difference...

"Pork, the other white meat" is merely a marketing slogan.

Pork is red meat. Wild pork is still pork.
