Well it should be real fun this year since TPWD cut the season at RC & GE in half basically from last year.

Legal dates this year at RC are Jan 3-28 and GE is is only one week longer.

I know a lot of you don't like it out there, but I enjoy it pretty well. Last year I hunted a couple of cells and only shared the cell with one other group of hunters. There were multiple days that I was the only one in the cell I was in as well.

Anyone know why the reduction in hunting dates from last year?

Wow. That may either increase or decrease the pressure for you.... I enjoyed it last year, had 2 people on the same cell but they were pleasant enough.

Can you post the link that shows the new dates?

Are they doing more draw hunts on the property? That may explain it...

The draw hunts once gone due to the flooding are now back. Then too they are doing 15 waterfowl groups every weekend on the postcard draw. Looks like they expanded the waterfowl drawn hunts. I know they have had a lot of trouble with the duck hunters early season doing stuff. Things like hunters slipping into the camping area to cheat the line at the gate even though they are not camping for example probably contributed to that.

Late Dec Christmas Bird Count.

Looks like the managers there have their hands full doing more with less when you consider the Texas Legislature cut almost all of the TPWD budget this year. They way the map reads they still must not have been able to repair all the roads the flooding damaged.

I drove out there Sunday. They have heavy equipment and are laying new spillover concrete roadways in 3-4 spots, right where the map shows it closed. May be back open by season opener.

None. I was out there 2 days ago looking around. I was hopefully that they would be pumping in already, but they were not that I could see.

All I could think about was the number of snakes id be standing next to if I decided to try and teal hunt out there. Not worth it to me.

I saw a total of 3 teal and drove through just about every unlocked gate (luckily they had a lot of gates open because they were mowing).
