I'm like anyone else in that I like a broadside shot where I can run a round thru the torso just behind the shoulder but I think my favorite angle is slightly quartering away! I've dumped more animals in their tracks from this angle than any other. What about you?

Right in the shoulder blade, very slightly quartering towards. They always just crash down right where they are.

300 win mag at 3180 fps with a 180 grain ballistic tip, everything pretty much drops where it stands. I also like a broadside shot behind the shoulder.

Quartering away, can be slight or sharp. It's world will get rocked if it's a sharp quartering shot. Running one from ham to tonsils pretty much sucks all the life out of them on the spot even with mobility intact.

Most of my hunting is with a muzzleloader, usually with round balls. I like a broadside shot with the ball placed just below the backbone at the top of the liver. That usually gets instant paralysis with no loss of meat.

Quartering away is the shot I prefer to take most often. Right between the peepers on a doe is a close second.

I like top of the shoulder at the base of the neck. For bow shots, quartering away.

Brain stem everything, except things with antlers, given the opportunity. If it's got antlers, then behind the shoulder.

Exactly as you said. Slightly quartering away has worked really well for me

What am I shooting at? Pigs and deer get different shot placements.

If it's a buck, behind the shoulder. Doe, head shot if possible, or right behind the shoulder to minimize or avoid messing up the shoulder meat. (I shoot a 300 blk out with 125 BT or 125 SST)

Pigs- All pigs get a neck or high neck shot, or in the ear. If you shoot a pig in the shoulder or behind the shoulder, it will generally kill it, but it most likely will run 100+ yards before it does. I want to anchor a pig where it stands, so an ear hole or neck is what it gets.

Aiming for the off-side shoulder-hence, slight quartering away. Broadside I'll go right behind the shoulder or high shoulder shot.
In response to HWY_MAN - make mine 3 fingers of single malt.

slightly quartering away, aim for the off side shoulder.

they don't run when you get the top of their heart/lungs and break the far shoulder

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

quartering away -- behind the shoulder aiming up through the engine

High shoulder, in the shoulder blade. I'm trying to break bone and anchor him, no running = no tracking.
