I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

On deer I like dead broadside but on hogs I like slightly quartering away

I have taken head, neck, broadside high shoulder, broadside right behind the shoulder, quartered away slightly and severely quartered away on Deer and they all work well if you put the bullet in the right spot for the angle the deer is standing. The only deer I have ever shot that ran more than 10-15 yards was a broadside shot on a big 8 that wouldn't stop walking and was about to hit the woodline at 50 yds. I hit him slightly back got back of lung and liver and he ran 50 yds or so and took a while to find him bc of lack of blood trail. My preferred shot would be broadside or slightly quartered away.

Right in the shoulder blade, very slightly quartering towards. They always just crash down right where they are. i started doing this a few years ago, and have to agree, everyone has dropped right there. this was last year trying out my new creedmoor, with this very shot. I was also intentionally trying to stop the bullet, creedmoor blew right through.
