Been thinking bout my small collection and was just curious to what other people thought on what 3 guns you must have in the safe at all times? Not meaning brand and all that just caliber. Not wanting to start a ruger vs Remington arguement lol. I feel like a smaller .22/.17, shotgun 12 gauge for me and a medium sized rifle 243 to 308 range

.22, 7mm08 bolt action, 12 gauge shot gun-that will pretty well cover anything. Nothing wrong with your list too.

Ditto.... Add a pistol in .45 ACP or .40 S&W....

My top 3: 10/22, old Beretta 12 gauge, Colt 1911
My 223, 6.5, SKS, or 30-30 would be next on the list, depending on the situation: I use the 223 the most, the SKS would be most appropriate in a zombie apocalypse, but the 30-30 is the most handy gun for where I'd go in a SHTF situation.

Short bbl 12 gauge/ .40 cal. for close range .308 1-4x24 scoped AR10 for medium range .308 4-20x50 scoped rifle for long range
That covers me from 0-800+ yards. I can defend & survive w/these.

12g shotty
take your pick on size and the flavor but that's really all anyone needs...

-.22lr, rifle
-Centerfire short action (bolt action) 7mm-08 for me.
-Pump 12 ga. 2 3/4" or 3"
A guy could feed himself anywhere on the continent with those three.
The .22lr and 12 ga could be substituted for a Savage 24, and get two for one. Then a pistol could be added to the list. I think for reliability sake a revolver, or bad as I hate to say it, a Glock.

AR 556 AR 308 Custom 10-22
I look at must haves for more than just hunting. Also availability and weight of ammo.
I've made sure I'm well stocked for these 3.

Ditto.... Add a pistol in .45 ACP or .40 S&W.... Good point, I was only thinking rifle for some reason. So, added 45 ACP.

I wont even go into caliber. because it all depends on the shooter's location and range needed to hit the target. But a good shotgun, pistol, and rifle. Too many calibers that can work well to say this one or that one.

I might be overthinking this, but IMO it depends on the scenario in which the question is being considered.
Scenario 1 - zombie apocalypse/Collapse of civil society/doomsday prepper 2x AR 15 9mm or similar high capacity semi automatic.
Alternatively, one of the AR15 could be swapped for Barrett 82A1. The size of the ammo pile is probably more important than the caliber here.
Scenario 2 - everything is ok, I just want to hunt .22lr pistol Center fire bolt action between .243 and 30-06 12 gauge
