Anyone used it? Thinking about getting some to shoot and use the brass for reloading afterwards, but shipping is stupid expensive, which really drives up the price. I've heard the brass is made by Norma (not sure if that's true). Wondering really if I should bother with it or just buy some other 6.5 CM brass and start reloading from the beginning. Problem is that 6.5 CM brass seems really expensive compared to just buying Prime ammo.

It shoots lights out in most any I've seen.
Brass they use is norma and so are the bullets.

I saw where Starline is making 6.5 Creedmoor brass with the SR primer and cheaper than Hornady brass.

I love Starline .45 and .44 Special brass.
watch Prime Ammo, they will have good sales now and then. Really nice folks there too. If I didn't reload, I would buy a case

What kind of quality should I expect from starline compared to Hornady/Norma/Prime/Lapua/etc.?

When I spoke with Prime, they told me that they used very high quality brass and could be reloaded many times. Granted that's coming from them but I haven't heard a complaint yet. I will order some and see how the bullets perform on Coyotes this year. Then reload with VLDs lol

They're offering a case for $250 with no shipping, but that is a crummy deal if my gun turns out to not like their brass. Purchasing by the box makes the ammo really expensive because shipping is around $20. If anyone wants to split a case with me, let me know.

Never heard of one not liking a type of brass. More that there might require load tweaking to get everything to jive.

Never heard of one not liking a type of brass. More that there might require load tweaking to get everything to jive. Is it possible that it would like different loads with different types of brass? My T3x Varmint 223 is very brass-picky. See target below. I shot group 1, adjusted the scope up .1 mil, and then shot the rest. Barrel got hot once and I had one called pull. I repeated this test later and got the same results (included Hornady brass the 2nd time as well and got results similar to Norma). All dots are 1". ETA: same length, powder charge, bullet, etc. for each group. Brass was the only variable.

Different brass have different H20 capacity or volume, so it affects accuracy if you use the same charge for different types of brass. Once you tweak them, they will shoot.

I just assumed that even if it will shoot any brass decent, it would still shoot some brass better than others. Even though Federal brass is not what most consider "high quality", it's what my T3x seems to shoot the best with Lake City a very close 2nd. I never tried to work up alternate loads with Norma, Hornady, PMC, etc.

One more open offer if anyone wants to split a case? I can't burn $250 right now, but I like the idea of Norma brass instead of the Hornady, which is what I'll go with if nobody wants to split some prime with me.
It's on sale and free shipping, so $125 for 100 rounds.

I would float around the prs facebook stuff and maybe post about wanting to buy the prime brass. Some guys just run the loaded ammo and thats it. Another option would be either accurateshooter or snipershide.

Thanks. Hadn't thought of that. I was really wanting the loaded ammo right now since I don't have any reloading equipment for 6.5CM and won't anytime soon. My plan was to slowly shoot out the rest of my supply of 223 and slowly build up reloading equipment and supplies for the 6.5CM. I think I'll probably just end up buying the Hornady match 140 ELD-M loaded ammo and reloading that brass. SWFA is doing free shipping and their price on it is down to $23 and change a box, which will offset the tax I have to pay since it's in-state.
My only problem with that plan is I keep finding forum after forum online where folks say the prime brass is much better quality than hornady, which is why I was throwing this offer back out again.

Hornady is only bad if you are used to running lapua or something similar. I still run hornady in my 6mm creed mainly because I have a crap ton but it gives me sub .5 moa and single digit sd's. With that being said it's very inconsistent on primer pocket tension so brass life varies but all of this is early pre standardization brass. Will it give you the 10 plus loads lapua does? Not likely but it's fine at tge price point.

Interesting. So if you're installing primers and feel one that goes in without much force, do you toss that piece of brass immediately? Or do you wait until you lose a primer during firing?

Tap it a few times. If it slides back or moves a bit I toss it.

Good deal, thanks. I'll probably stick with the Hornady then. The factory ammo shoots great out of my gun and I'm sure it'll be perfectly adequate for my reloading uses and skill level.

I'm sure it'll be perfectly adequate for my reloading uses and skill level. I'm not knocking your reloading skills. I too consider myself a rookie reloader and probably will for some hundreds of rounds to come. So, you don't have to use the very best available to load, especially in the beginning. LOTS of guys use Hornady brass with great results. Don't get hung up on the best, use what's good.

Tap it a few times. If it slides back or moves a bit I toss it. Same here. Hornady brass has done a great job for me in 6.5 Creedmoor. I've processed it to be the same, as much as possible, treated it well, not loading super hot, and annealing every 2 firings. It's about to be on load number 6 or 7. If the rifle/ loads are not shooting well, it is not the fault of the brass, but something else.

Alright yall convinced me. Offer for splitting a case of Prime is off the table. I don't have reloading equipment yet for the 6.5, so I loaded up on the Hornady 140 ELD match loaded ammo while SWFA had it on sale and free shipping. I'll reload the once-fired Hornady brass after it's all been shot. I'll have 160 total pieces, which should be fine for the volume of shooting that I do. Thanks!

I've been using Hornady brass for quite some time now..with no problems. Haven't lost one case yet, and some have quite a few firings on them..
