I drew the only antlerless tag in Copper Breaks SP. Any chance any of you know anything about it? Seems strange that they would go through the effort of having the hunt just to remove one antlerless and one either sex deer. Thanks!

Lucky dog!!! Don't know anything about it but have been putting in for that hunt since it was first added. Congrats on the draw!

I live about a mile from Copper Breaks. Its a really nice park. Nice places to tent camp or set up an Rv. It has a decent size lake and a couple of ponds. The Pease river runs along the south fence line. You should have no problem filling your tag. Im friends with one of the park rangers there and he says the anybody ever hardly shows up for the hunts. If theres anything else I can help you with just let me know.

I'm headed to Copper Breaks SP tomorrow. I just bought property 5 miles from the park and plan to camp there while I get electric and water set up on my Ranch.

Hey Dustin,
Thanks for the welcome.
I'm in Foard County also. Right off of CR246.

Good luck on your hunt and let us know how it goes. I have always been intrigued as to why they just offer one permit.

I talked to the park manager about that. Its mostly about providing a couple of lucky hunters another opportunity to hunt. Each hunter gets half of the 2,000 acres of park to hunt. Some really nice looking terrain.

I called the park and got the same response. Me and the lucky hunter who drew the buck permit will split the park. I'm really looking forward to the trip.
