I have become a serial number Birth Date Collector.

It's a sickness for sure, I try and stay with dates that people will still be alive. I just found a Colt SN# 111197 (11 NOV 1997) Will make for a cool 21st Birthday gift next year as the gun will turn 100 years old in 2018 as per my book on Colt Serial Numbers.

Been looking for my birth date for years I'll find it one day, Maybe.

I think he's just taking the serial number and turning it into a 6-digit date, not saying the gun was made in 1997.

That would make sense.

That's right I try to find guns with a 5 and 6 digit serial numbers that corresponds with Birth Dates. I found a Smith Wesson 22/32 Bekeart made in the 20's that the serial numbers matched my SIL birthday.
