Haven't been in years but might make a trip over just to see what is new.

The show has turned into a parade of hormone/protein infested high fence deer "hunts", stand, feeder, and meat processing vendors. Very little appeal to me anymore.

The show has turned into a parade of hormone/protein infested high fence deer "hunts", stand, feeder, and meat processing vendors. Very little appeal to me anymore. It could be filled with non-hunting related stuff which fills tons of the shows today. I'm talking about the kitchen pots/pans, the scentsy candles, t-shirt vendors supporting nothing but a slogan(come on man...thats not even a hunting product), soups and spice mixes, Lotto tickets, it goes on and on and worse every year. I would love to find a good show filled with high fence deer hunts, stands feeders, meat processors, taxidermy, four wheelers, boats, fishing gear, actual hunting clothing(camo and blaze orange. You know, stuff that you actually use for going hunting and fishing. Binos, rifles, scopes, knives, backpacks. Stuff to rig out my ATV, UTV or 4x4 truck. Actual new products to the real hunting industry. Get rid of the kitchen aid, cooking pots and pans, kitchen appliances, LED signs(not LED lights for your ATV...the sign stuff), home decor, recipes, candles, and stupid t-shirt vendors. If you find a good one in Texas, I sure would like to see it. TTHA and many others are just not it anymore. Some of the safari club style shows are just about the only ones that I have seen like that.

TTHA each year less appealing and has priced the average hunter/lease hunter out of this show market and caters to the high rollers and ranch operations. Very little hunting vendors. I used to go to pick up scents, lock on stands, accessories, etc but now shows are about HF, $$$$ hunts and big ticket items

I was going to go because I haven't been in a few years. Saw they are doing the Convention Center again so started looking at parking in the area and laughed at the prices. It looks like with parking and show entrance I would be around $25-$30. I usually only walk away with 2 12volt batteries that are only a couple bucks cheaper than Academy so I'm not going this year again.
I had to laugh at the radio ad I heard today for the show. It said something about "come meet Eva Shockey and Kindall Jones". I have nothing against either one of those beautiful young ladies. I do wonder who the show is trying to cater to though. Are they trying to cater to women who probably make up less than 5% of hunters, or young twenty somethings that think they are going to score a date with one of those two?
Bring back the days of free seminars with Dr. Kroll, Mike Biggs, and some of the other well known "in the know" type people. That would be like getting back to TTHA roots and what has made the show what it once was.

I used to go to pick up scents, lock on stands, accessories, etc but now shows are about HF, $$$$ hunts and big ticket items Most of the shows are starting out around $800 and up for a 10x10 booth in Texas. TTHA is a little higher than that I think. I agree I would love to see more hunting product but even those have gone away because those things are being sold at big box stores. Every once in a while you find a show that has a few vendors that have something new for the hunting market and until they get consumed by a big retailer, they will move around show to show. I think the people that run the shows must be having a hard time finding vendors with new products to put in their show.

I have not been in several years. I was thinking about going but it's a pretty good drive for me and with parking I think I will pass. I would rather go to DSC in January. That's an impressive show.

I'm going tomorrow for the first time in several years. I used to go every year since the 70's. Looking forward to it. I'll probably be disappointed but we'll see.
I will enjoy a few beers and dinner after

Not only did I quit going to the convention I quit the magazine several years ago. When 2/3 of the magazine was made up of breeders adverts, it was time for me to move on. The last show I went to offered nothing I couldn't live without or buy from BPS or Cabela's if needed. When my son was younger he liked going and looking at the WT mounts, snake exhibit, etc... I have WT mounts at my house and snakes at the lease so I'm good on that end.

I went last night and it was well worth the $10 admission. There was a TON more room than Will Rogers. Some really great booths and vehicles, ATV's, etc,
2 negatives: Beer was $6.50 for a 12 oz cup...can you say RIP-OFF there were a couple booths showing items which were kind of creepy, re: a electronic muscle deal you put on your bad back and it shocks the muscle, weird. there were about 5 of these booths. Felt like I was in a commercial. started out at $400, was $90 before I walked. too high pressure.
All in all it was a fun...expensive....night.

Lots of empty booths and more non hunting stuff than last year. I was disappointed, I'll go again next year but I hope the hunting related booths outnumber non.
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

I wasn't too impressed this time around. Met Brother In Law there so that was cool and stocked up on Elusive Wildlife gear and that was about it. There were some protestors outside and some dude was arguing with them which is what they want, if you ignore them they will go away. They had officers there and as I walked by I said, it's too hot for that crap and the cop says yeah no kidding and laughed.

Good to meet you CMC
Not a very good show but for $10 and $7 to park I consider it cheap entertainment. There are some good products mixed in with the bubba crap and raffles. Way to many annoying raffles Saw some more African and bird hunts.
