I purchased a 9" flat screen TV from Amazon. All I need is a cheap "rabbit ear" antenna. It comes with a remote and wiring which can be changed out with alligator clips. Cost - $70.
A friend has the same set up. He programmed the channels at home for the TV and brought it to the ranch/deer blind. He uses a 12 volt battery for the deer feeders and charges the battery from the blind with a 12 volt solar charger. These are antenna TV channels but it works great!!!
Does anyone else have this set up?

I think I can survive without one, our place you can't even get TV or phone service, it's nice listening and seeing what god created.

God created everything on that tv too. Just saying.

Upgraded to unlimited data for just this reason. I'll find a cowboys stream on Reddit while I'm in the stand. Every Sunday I used to decide between football and hunting. Not anymore.

Let's be honest, I'm sitting in a deer blind 150 yards away from a pile of corn that deer come looking for every time they hear a noise. I'm not really doing much hunting. I'm mostly sitting, killing time til a deer gets hungry enough to show up. Wether I kill that time reading a magazine or watching a YouTube video with headphones on is really the exact same thing.

scanning and its bunos, grunting and rattling, plenty to do while sitting in a blind and I've never even see a mature buck at a feeder usually the young bucks and does and the mature bucks stay just far enough away to feel safe. Plus there are lots of places to glass in the places I hunt. Even when I hog hunt at night watching the feeder I just sit there and enjoy the peace and quiet while airing for hogs to show. It's peaceful not to hear people talking and just sitting in the quiet.

I agree with Sapper however watching some NCAA Football during an all day sit sounds nice.

I do all the same stuff while the cowboys game is on. Got a rattle bag and grunt call as well as a pair of binos sitting right by my phone.

I love the fact that there is no phone service or tv at the lease. I always carry my phone for pics or an emergency 911 call but Facebook, THF and tv shows are out of my mind for the time I'm there. If we go to town to the store or to eat, i can't help but pull out my phone and check for service to contact the wife so she's knows I'm ok, but at the lease, no

I love football as much as the next guy. But, i record them.

Get home and can literally watch the entire game in 30 minutes.

There's nothing more boring than watching a pre recorded sporting event.

I was in a blind in Wisconsin, really a cabin on stilts. It had power so there was a big TV and satellite dish, they must watch the Packers.
When they were not in the blind they left the radio on a talk station, the deer get used to it. Deer would be bedded down in the shade under the blind listening to Rush Limbaugh.

Trying to find a picture I have but I say go for it, I have a 7" TV in my blind. I use a 1.5 or 2.0' PVC with rabbit ears on top $10.00 at wmt or hd. I power it with a jump-n-cary last along time and then I I shoot something I use the power pack to power my winch to load the deer/hog. If it helps you or kids stay in the blind longer you have the opportunity to see more game. My blind is insulated and standing outside you can barely here the TV. I know the pros and cons but the whole reason we are there is to have fun. To all the neigh sayers ask them if they have range finders, binoculars, high powered scopes, deer feeders, protein feeders, or food plots.

what does any of the stuff you listed at the end have to do with anything?

Hunter Daddy ask if anyone else had a TV in the blind, this just happens to be how I power mine when I use it. There are purest who feel hunting should be done a certain way. My comments at the end were only to point out that today lots of us use different "toys" which give use what some might consider an unfair advantage. I know bow hunters who feel that there's no challenge to rifle hunting any more thus they only bow hunt. I also know rifle hunters who won't take a shot unless they they can put the bullet exactly where they want it to go. That was all I was trying say.

Agree with this. I go out to get away from the noise. Nothing better than being far enough out where even a cell signal doesn't work.

Agree. I do wish though that I did have cell service at times at the lease just so I could communicate with others.

What another guy does in his blind, I could care less. I would never even try a TV in the blind for simple fear it would blow any deer away and I need every advantage possible lol

Nothing wrong with enjoying yourself in the blind. If that's peace and quiet for some, then great. If you want a tv, then so be it. I believe if you wear headphones you should be okay. Sometimes I'll listen to an audiobook with headphones while I'm night hunting. Point is that you enjoy your time out.

YUP up

I have to admit though, I used a wifi and laptop to do some degree work in the stand. I was inspired, then I woke up and finished the paper.

I see you're not very passionate about hunting if you put the No Fans Left over the hunting.
Good luck!

When I am at home watching the game in my lay-z-boy I wear camo, have the rifle rested in the corner, spill doe pee on the carpet, rattle the antlers every once and a while, have binos around my neck and never see a deer...

But to each their own. As long as you are having fun and do it legally, go for it.
Personally, I turn the radio down in my truck if I am looking for the right street to turn on, it makes it easier to see grin. I enjoy the peace and quiet in the stand.

Yep, I like hearing the birds sing praise to God as the sun comes up. And hearing them chirp as the sun goes down, hopefully with the sound of a .308 firing in between

I guess I enjoy the true quiet hunting style unlike most people. I know a guy who hooked up a gaming system and tv in his stand...like why leave your travel trailer man, just hunt out of it while you're at it.

To each his own. I have a question, though, about using ear buds. They have a microphone built in, don't they? Can it be turned off or should you be sure to pop them out before shooting? A rifle blast straight through the mic right to your ear drums probably wouldn't be pleasant. I've never tried this, so maybe I'm missing something? Do they have ear buds with no microphone? I really don't know.

edited to add: I have AT&T unlimited data and the Direct TV app on my tablet. That's what I'd use if I so chose. I get the same channels and everything as at the house. My stand is one of the few spots on the place with very good signal.
