Locally we have a wildlife refuge, and they allow hunting at certain times of the year with archery, and shotgun.
I was curious if a Keltec KSG with reddot and some slugs would do the trick.
We would be walking for about 8 miles a day.

I shoot hogs with an old 870 Wingmaster using 300 grain Hornady SSTs and I haven't had one take a step after being hit. So yeah I think they will work.

ta HF... As Sapper & Danno have pointed out, plenty of fire power... Hunted with guy from FW area that used 12ga. with slug, & have used 410 with slugs... Prefured the AR-15 in .223 with 55gr when putting on that many miles in a day... Most hunters dont get to far off trails, & if ya wondering about the woods, the tall grass, uneven terrian, downed branches & such, its a tough hunt... usualy get back in mile or two & start seeing hogs were i hunted... Several times ya find em closer, depending on pressure.. Best wishes...

Sure it will work, but know your limitations of the scope and of accuracy of the rifle. Go to the range and see how far you can hit accurately. I am guessing 35-50 yards for more precise shooting and out to 100 for less precise shooting. Once you get all that figured out, you should be good to go.

I'm getting right at about 1 inch groups at 100 yds with my 870 with rifled barrel. Was very surprised at how accurate it was.

My 20 gauge Remington pump with a rifled barrel and a 2-7 Leupold will make 2 inch groups at 100 yards with certain slugs (Winchester Partition Gold). 3 inch groups with some stashed Remington Buckhammers. I also have some Federal lead early style sabots I am going to try. On the other hand I seldom get shots past 75 yards anyway.

rifle bore shotguns are very accurate... 410 slug is bout size of my .45 Kentucky & lot more accuret at 100 yrds cause of more modern powder, i use Goex, & the 50 cal in-lines with the pellets, is like the 12gauge... Plenty power... Forgot to swich messure on flask , it had the one fo my .44 revolver, half powder charge, , & powder 20+ years old, still took a hog, close range, as DNS said, one must know their own limits ...

Since you have a rifled barrel, have you ever tried Sabot slugs?

hold on Newt, we got a runaway

Unfortunately, KSGs don't have rifled barrels. Chances are 5-12 MOA with a smoothbore and slugs, depending on the barrel and the slugs being used.

If that's the case Id try a few different types of rifled slugs if they won't pattern well look into buckshot if it's legal.
