Thought I'd share my trials with the new 284 win norma brass. First thought was I was going to get out of alot of brass prep getting away from lapua 6.5x284 and necking up to .284. That's a negative on the Norma brass, lost about 60fps and accuracy deteriorated after 500 yards. Ripped my hair out fire forming and tweaking charges and seating depths just doesn't compare to the consistency of lapua. The only bad thing about the lapua is after a few shots the neck forms a small donut that has to be reamed out, other than alot of brass prep Lapua is by far the best.

I buy mostly Lapua these days, but like Norma about as much. I never had a complaint about Norma. That said, I don't shoot long distance.

I have gone to mainly Norma and Nosler brass, because of the good quality. I have no complaints. I use Lapua when I can, and when the customer wants it. It is always very good brass. But the Norma stuff I put right up there with Lapua.

The Norma can easily have a different case capacity with different neck tensions than the Lapua. This will certainly change up your load from the Lapua brass. I have seen this many times. Just start over with your loads.

Also, if accuracy is there between 100-400 yards, it will be there at 500. So, work on the load more, and it should shoot good again.

I got no dog in this fight, but I do believe all factory weatherby brass is made by norma and ive been well pleased with the life of my wby/norma cases.

I really like the Nosler brass too, but can't seem to get the same case life that I get from Lapua and Norma. Lord knows how many times I resized and reused some Norma brass for my 220 Swift. It lasted a very long time.

I have to admit that I got fine service from Remington and Winchester brass, but had to do some prepping to get it to shoot to my satisfaction. Laziness pushed me to the better brass. Simple as that...

I measured some thickness of the Lapua 6.5x284 and Norma and the Norma actually measured out better. I've bought the Norma and have rolled with it. I've got about 400 rounds on them and they've been great but by and large I'm a Lapua guy thru and thru.

Find that hard to believe Judd but if you say so. I have no issues with other Norma brass I use it for a couple rifles I have and it works fine but isn't Lapua, but this .284 norma brass I'm telling you is not consistent. I have spent great amount time tweaking powder charges and seating depths. I might have got a bad batch, I bought 200 pretty much threw $240 in the trash. I don't think I'll try them in .284WIN again.
