Can you use a car battery charger to charge 12v sealed lead acid batteries?

Straight from my good friend Google

Don't use a car charger with small sealed lead acid batteries (or, in general, any batteries that use a glass mat to absorb the electrolyte). ... And last, but not least, pay attention to the voltage the charger was designed for and the voltage of the battery you are charging.

most are TOO BIG - wrong charge curve, and will cook the electrolyte right out of the battery - killing it quick;

Even a small UNREGULATED wall wart will cook them too if left on past full charge.

Small SLA automatic chargers are cheap - get one . . .

get a plug in SLA charger that can switch between 6V and 12V and you will be set up
