I use mine while cooking as a glaze....mostly on pork or chicken.....rarely use it for dipping or smothering.....unless the meat is bland and needs something to make it more eatable.....

How do you use it?

Strictly as a condiment. It has no place at the smoker or the grill. If I do it right, the meat needs no sauce. On a sandwich, the sauce is for the dry bun.

I like bbq sauce. Sure good bbq doesn't need any bbq sauce, but I think a good bbq is well complimented by a good bbq sauce.

I do like to put a little sweet sauce with some sugar on my ribs before I take them off. I don't know any other way to get a good glaze on them, if you put enough brown sugar to do it they are ungodly sweet.

Different strokes for different folks there isn't one right or wrong answer.

It's for dried out BBQ or grilled meats for the most part. Ill use it as a finishing sauce sometimes when I want a little chur on what I am grilling.

I don't glaze or dip/smother any of my BBQ with BBQ sauce, and I also use no sugar in any of my rubs. I only use a bit of sauce when cooking ribs and butts. I mix some sauce with some ACV (apple cider vinegar) and a little apple juice to dilute it and make it runny. I also use a 50/50 mix of ACV/apple juice to spritz the ribs and butts usually every hr to keep them moist.

When I wrap ribs, I spray ACV/apple juice on the foil followed by a decent squirt of the diluted bbq sauce, then place the ribs meat side down and wrap them up tight for the final 1.5-2 hrs of cooking.

I use it for glaze only sometimes. I don't smother the meat with it though. Seasoning speaks louder than sauce imo.

it's a personal preference to me ... I don't use sauce but my wife likes a sweet touch even on the finest smoked meat ( bang ) ... kinda like my MIL likes her steaks well done (which to me is ruining a good piece of meat) ...

I was raised using an old family German recipe for a mop sauce on whatever we had on the pit but it was basically to keep the meat moist and flys off (very large open pits) that consisted of apple cider vinegar, oil, black pepper, salt, fresh squeezed lemons & oranges (then drop the rinds in the pot) that was mixed up in a large pot and set on the pit along side the meat with a made up mop. Towards the end of the cooking process, a little of the mop sauce was pulled off into a separate smaller pot, tomato sauce/paste was added with a little brown sugar or honey for those that had to have a dipping sauce.

if the meat is dry or bland, it sometimes might need some sauce even for me ... but I normally use any type of sauce to dip my bread in, not the meat.

There is an old Chek man from Shiner that's like a Grandfather to me, that makes his sauce that way. Sounds exactly the same.

I love Rudy's BBQ sauce, and I like anything vinegar or mustard based if I'm in the dipping mood. I especially like a spicy Carolina style vinegar based dipping sauce with lots of red pepper. Pour a bunch of that on a PP sandwich and get down!

Have not tried to smoke a butt or a brisket yet and would not put it on them, but do glaze my ribs. I am still learning.

I like to make pulled pork sandwiches and then put a little sauce on it, I think the right BBQ sauce compliments the taste of the meat and spices. I also like some BBQ sauce on smoked turkey sandwiches. Sometimes ill glaze ribs for the last hour of the cook but I don't like a lot of sauce on them and also from time to time glaze chicken on the grill.

I make my own sauce and I like it. I don't use it as a glaze. Anybody who comes to our house to eat can take it or leave it. It's a personal choice with no right or wrong answer.

I personally don't use either unless I get a specific request when smoking something that somebody would like it glazed on Chicken or ribs. I like the taste of meat, not sauce. But that is what I like, everybody has there own opinion what is best for them.

Depends on situation and mood. Never glaze with brisket. Chicken and pork sometimes, doing it today with my home made from scratch sauce.

Depends I might smoke 3 or 4 racks of ribs and decide to finish one off with some BBQ sauce if I have a sweet tooth, same with yardbird, might put a thin coat of bbq sauce just because it sounds good at the time up

When I make a pulled pork or brisket sammy, I like to put a squirt of sauce on both of the buns, load the meat on, a little southern style cole slaw, then another quick squirt of sauce and voila! BBQ sammy supremo. Red onion, japs, and deli dill pickle on the side, and, of course, potato salad, baked beans, and grilled or boiled corn on the cob. chef
