Built a 4x6 wood blind. Built the base out of 2x4s, framed out and put plywood on the outside. Put some nice dear view windows and door. Painted it all up. Add a 4x8 roof and threw some shingles to help control rain.

Blind worked really well. Kept me dry and warm. Plenty of room. Life is great all of last season


Went to the lease this evening. Was going to hunt the night then feed corn and come home in the morning. While walking up I knew something bad had happened. Apparently some wind caught the lip of the roof and blew my blind over. I had set it on some cement deck risers to keep it off the ground. since it wasn't on a stand I didn't anchor it down...now I know better

Blind is a nice total loss. The windows shattered. Moisture has caused extensive mildew and rot. All sorts of bugs have moved in....


Now I need to go buy a new blind, because I don't I have time to build a new one...

What a bummer. It doesn't take much to hold them down, same with feeders. I had a big pig push my feeder over, he wont do that again.

Sorry sir, had both of mine blown over last August and they both had 4 T-posts holding them down.

I did not replace one of them yet but, the one I did replace now has 8 T-posts (2 on each corner) and a tie down on each corner.

Increasing the rake or angle of the legs can help it from getting blown over. I have multiple boxes that are not anchored some 5ft high to 15ft high......Never had one get blown over. Mine are built a lot heavier and the legs are angled out a little more than normal for stability and they're X braced with 2x8's for rigidity. Not saying they wont get blown over but hasn't happened and the stands have been up 5 years.

sorry to hear that. Tornado blew up a couple blinds on our lease (no way they could have survived seeing the destruction path). Luckily my blinds survived and are anchored with T post and heavily wired at each leg. Good luck and speed on replacing.

We lost one that way a few years ago, the 4 T-posts base and floor were still there but not the blind.

Also get a turn buckle to go between the stand and anchor so you can tighten it down good

We had our tallest blind anchored and the cows got under it and rubbed the cable and broke the turn buckle. If you have cows run some barb wire so they can't rub the cable.

Big Wind showed up at lease and turned over one 4x6 blind. Busted the gun port window. Now have it anchored to an Oak tree. Was fortunate in that was the only blind damaged. Had local glass company replace the glass at half the price that Deerview Windows would have.
