I use HS-6 for 250 grain laserCasts in a 45 colt for the same purpose. Shoots great, low recoil, pound of powder goes a long ways at somethin below 10 grains of powder per casing if memory serves me right.

Would be interested in what you come up with, accuracy isn't that important for my need. Have a "son of sam" that hurts my hand and need some light loads or need to sell gun.

I load HP-38 (Or 231) at 5.8 grains for a soft-shooting .44 Special load on that weight of boolit. Great round for plinking. That powder gives lower velocities than most.
kk66, are you SURE you load 8 grains of Unique behind a 240-grain cast boolit for that round? For a .44 Magnum that would seem to be hot.

Titegroup. Looks like 4 grains should be the ticket.
