It's not only the most secure, it's the most balanced because it rides in the center of the pack. Even most of the scabbards are flimsy - thus create issues with stability. Eberlestock has by far the best scabbard. It's solid, padded, and is integral to the pack. Tradeoff: it adds noticeable weight to an already pretty weighty line of packs. Apparently, Momma was right: there ain't no free lunch.

Kifaru makes a universal gun barer. I have one mounted on my Kuiu pack. I like the idea of using Kuiu's upper piece. Hadn't even thought of that. I find the Kifaru top piece to be a bit awkward, though I guess I could just trim the excess webbing that I feel like there is about 6" of.
