Ya know, I went down that road a couple of years ago. After spending almost as much repairing cut extension cords as I spent to buy the *$%&^#@ electric hedge clippers, it dawned on me that maybe gas-powered clippers might be a better choice. I went with the Poulan Pro 967044601 40V Dual Steel Hedge Trimmer and have not looked back. They use the same mix as my trimmer and cut through up to 1/2"-3/4" branches on shrubs, bushes, Crape Myrtles, and the trees out front. Consider spending a little more and avoid the cords...

I appreciate the advice, but its probably going to be used mostly by my dad, who cant or wont start a chain saw, weed eater, blower which are all mixed gas or he's got me to do it. He getting up there in age and I want to him to stay active so I figured, everything he operates is battery powered. I would buy us a nice hedge trimmer would be perfect for trails or anywhere. He likes to burn branches and these will help. I'm actually leaning toward a battery but the electric is not out of the question if it has the power. The batteries are so freakin high. 299 for a 40v dewalt.

Yeah battery powered lawn gear has come a long way the last few years. My 56 volt Worx string trimmer is a beast and will destroy any weed it touches. And no messing with mixing gas/oil. Cant attest to the hedge trimmers though.
