Is anyone aware of any available archery deer locations along the McKinney to Sherman area? I tried the public hunting at Caddo Grasslands and it was covered with hunters. Thanks!

You can put in for the Haggerman WR draw. Probably too late for this year but I'm not sure what the deadline is.

Haggerman deadline is in May. But good suggestion!! if you are going to hunt public then start scouting now and find some unique ways to get into the land. this will put you farther back and more importantly into location other hunters are not going to get into.

Public land hunting in Texas in some of the most challenging hunting you can find. Also the most rewarding!! Be creative and challenge yourself!!

I live in McKinney and have been going out to Cooper WMA quite a bit. Only an hour and 15 minutes away from home.

Might consider some of the public land in Oklahoma as well. Obviously out of state license aren't exactly cheap, but still cheaper than an actual lease.

LBJ - although not exactly the direction you're asking, is public lands.

Are you looking for a lease or a buddy who will let you hunt?

Lake Texoma has some public hunting opportunities, however it's very hard hunting.. it's not uncommon to go 10 or 11 sits without seeing a deer I'm assuming it's due to all the hunting pressure but it can be done, I've seen some really great deer and my uncle killed a stud out there in 2015.

Also check Grapevine Lake - Corps of Engineers. Not sure if they still have passes.

Those are probably big alley cats

Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.
