If you're in destin looking to do some bay fishing, avoid this guy. Left the marina at 0630. Didn't start fishing until 0800, spent an hour and a half catching bait (guide throwing a cast net while we sat around). Fished 4 different spots (1 spot fished twice) for anywhere from 10-30 min. Another ~45 min riding between spots. Put 6 fish in the box, back in the marina at 1230. Charged $810 for a 6 hour trip. My father in law and 2 brother in laws are inexperienced fishermen and he saw them coming a mile away. I've chartered plenty of times in Texas, Florida and Hawaii and argued with this guy until I was blue in the face. I've had some bad trips, but this one takes the cake.

Wow. Bad deal for sure.

All I can say is that sometimes the fishing just sucks, but in truth a good guide would have had bait before you even got in the boat. Sorry to hear about the horrible trip.

That's what I am upset about (bait). I've been on a couple charters where we've been skunked and I am very understanding that guides can not control fish, no hard feelings there. However, I have never been on a trip that required live bait that was not already caught or bought prior to the start of the fishing. Moreover charging a client for the time it took the guide to get to/from bait hole and time spent catching bait. Totally inexcusable. I was under the impression we were going to be charged for a 4 hour trip when we headed in. We actually had lines in the water for 2.5-3 hours at best, spent 45 min going back and forth across the bay. I'm understanding of that as well, I know, or seemed like, he was really trying to find fish. Although the guide burned through more bait than any of his clients.

Very sorry you got ripped off. Lots of losers in the fishing guide business.
