Good deal or bad $285 for either 243, 270 or 3006? Are they good guns?

The Icon I had was a good one, as are the encore and contendrrs. At that price don't think could go wrong for a hunting rifle

ThomPson Center Venture has a Lifetime Warranty to the original owner...not purty but a solid shooter with 5R rifleing system like Remmy 700's, only real weakness IMO is the cheesy flimsy drop box magazine that is covered in the Lifetime Warranty. Lots of folks superglue them together and fugeddaabout it. Ventures also came in a Stainlss Steel lookalike coating guaranteed for Life not to rust...yadda yadda

I've bought a couple of them 3-4 years ago but never got to shoot one as they all sold on consignment for more money than I had in them...shoulda kept the RT camo dipped, SS coated 308 I bought for cheap NIB 4 years ago.

Compass is the new cheaper alternative ... with a 1 Year Warranty...hasn't made a dent in the RAR market for shich it was designed, but then neither has anything else in that market segment
