I confronted my wife today and said " Honey, remember you said long ago that if I don't drink or smoke and I could use that saved money for my hobbies such as hunting, fishing and reloading, etc., remember that?" She says " That is right", with a concerned look and I said, thank you and I'll be researching for an annealer. She asked, how much is it? Upwards of 300 to 500 dollars, lol.

Kidding aside, I am in the process of buying an annealer, which annealer do you guys depend on? Please no AMP Inductions, they are too expensive. Benchsource is about 600 dollars, are there any reliable that is cheaper than Benchsource like the Annealeez or Giraud? Looking for a safe, consistent and quality machine. Hopefully I stop chasing accuracy because most of the time my loads using new brass shoots sooo good and after 3 to 4 firings it throws a flier here and there. I assume the reason is neck tension since new brass is annealed before being sold.

TD, I have the Annealeez and have used it quite a bit. It's the only one I've used, but I've watched a few videos on the other annealers available. What I really like about the Annealeez is the fact that I can load it up with 20 to 60 cases and then just sit and babysit it for a while. Some of the machines require constant action on the operator's part. That's one aspect you might want to consider in your quest. I'm sure I haven't researched ALL of them, but I can tell you I'm pretty happy with my machine.

If you watch accurateshooter.com you can find the benchsource for around $400 because guys are replacing them with AMP annealers. That is what I'd suggest with a Girard as a close second.

I had a benchsource and upgraded to the AMP. I understand that it's not worth it to some, those two are great machines if you don't want the AMP.

I just looked at that one, but wanted to contact Mike but does not seem to give me a contact number on his website. I took a look at Giraud and spoke with a rep and gave me some info, its about a little over 500 bucks with accessories plus shipping. Emailed Annealeez and their contact shows an Error. Benchsource have not answered the phone yet.

Is two torch heads really needed or just one torch with a rotating case is sufficient?

Which would you choose between the BenchSource or the Giraud? I don't mind paying a little more or is the Annealeez just as good as the Giraud?

I am going nuts on which to choose,,,, muyloco

One torch head and a rotating case works plenty good, TD.

I'm sure opinions differ, but in MY opinion something simple like the Annealeez will do just as good a job as any. You can always get a "better" machine that has more perfectly consistent dwell time, but I find it very hard to believe there would be any detectable difference in results just because one case might be in the flame for a hundred milliseconds more or less that another. Of course some just like to have the highest quality tool no matter how simple the task, and I like high quality stuff about as much as the next guy...BUT, I draw the line where I draw the line. I can pound a nail with a rock if I have to, but I prefer a hammer. Even then, a twelve dollar hammer is good enough for my purposes and I'm not about to spend forty on one.

YMMV!

The reason I chose the BS over the Giraud was because the BS will do every case by just making adjustments to the torches (you probably don't need two but it does prevent a side from cooling during the process and it will take it longer to come up to the annealing temp) versus having to buy different wheels.

The different wheels cost more but with the Giraud you can load it up and babysit it less than having to feed cases. It just depends on what you want. I didn't regret my BS purchase...I just wanted the AMP to be more efficient and my time management.

BenchSource is on order with twin torch heads. Can't wait. Thanks all.

I'm glad this post came up, as I was about to ask the very same question. RR, only question I have about the Annealeez is the sound level? I like the one in the video but I just don't have the $400.00 bucks for it because I also need a case prep station.

BassCat, the Annealeez sells for $275. I do not find the noise it makes objectionable at all.

I like the way the Mike's MRB annealer works...it's a cool design, but $400 is a bit steep when you get the same results from the Annealeez.

This has a striking resemblance to the MRB version and can be made for about $200 cheaper.

Complete parts list and instructions on 6.8forum, not sure why I can't post that link.
