I've never seen a jackrabbit drive, but my grandpa was happy to let me kill all the rabbits I wanted. I would set up around the edge of their property morning and evening and catch the rabbits coming from the nearby woods to their vegetable gardens.

Along with ranching, my grandparents had vegetable gardens to stock up on veggies and fruit from trees, then sell the rest in town to supplement their income. Well, the rabbits would come in from nearby woods and get in their gardens to eat one bite out of each thing. Those rabbits wreaked havoc on their crops. And I took out as many as I could with my single shot .22.

That's kind of the same way here in Grayson county. But the jacks were only in the western part of the county for some reason. And now you don't see ANY. Or I don't, because I lost the hunting land I had. But I still don't think any are around there. You don't see them run over on the side of the road, like cottontails. And I can't tell you the last time I even HEARD a bobwhite.

I've got at least 2 jacks on my place outside of Collinsville. They don't bother us and wife likes watching them.
