Guys,
The last three times I've bought corn when I have poured it into my feeders it's had mold. I've bought from different stores and they all seem to have the same problem. Where's the best place to purchase the freshest corn?

From the field, by the ton.
The place that sells the most, and also doesn't store it outside will have less chances of having corn with mold.

It may help if you tell us at a minimum what region of Texas you plan on buying this corn.

This happened to me once when I got corn from Bass Pro. It was convenient since I had to stop there for other things. I used a few bags and took all of the rest back.
I stick with my local feed store.

I have shot deer over soured corn/milo catfish chum I used to bait in hogs. I would be hacked off if I was being sold moldy corn at the going rate of non moldy, but the critters probably don't care.

The place that sells the most, and also doesn't store it outside will have less chances of having corn with mold. Worst place to buy is usually from the field, if you do I highly advise having a moister tester on you.

Mel Problem with this time of year is that corn was harvested at the latest Nov/Dec and if it was that late it was probably border line on moister scale to begin with.

Get it from a feed store that pushes alot of corn... i would bet basspro gets is in bulk and has alot setting before it gets in... that or the last bit got rained on in shipping...
