might be a slow responce, theirs been many a debates about baits on this forum, think that one was mentioned... Had seen that hog wild, its been years, it was in Gander Mtn. not real sure of hog bait... On other side of creek were had deer food plot & used a timer corn feeder as dinner bell had found spot were hogs rooted up, fresh, poured it in were they rooted up... nothing... also hunted hogs with guy from FW at OSBWMA, i do lots of walking, worked best for me, he said he found hog bait garrented ta work... so at WMA found area small little slew, fresh sign, when he came down , he poured it were fresh sign was... Nothing, checked it daily after he left... ya have some cool videos

My buddy and me were talking about digging a hole to put corn in. I'm going use your recipe. The hogs come to the feeders daily (i agree is like a dinner bell) but, a group of hogs will clear the corn off the ground pretty quick.
Go get in the woods

I use strawberry jello , two boxes poured into the corn just like hansETEX but I just pour used cooking oil over it and stir it up. This said unless hogs find it in the time your hunting you won't see any! Also the gallon cans of corn that restaurants use is pretty good just as it comes out of the can and I sometimes add it to my bucket of deer corn, jello and used oil. I got to where I don't like putting it in a hole as the hogs will dig a MUCH bigger hole there.

Rotated check my trail cams, when hogs showed up, went out scattered corn up ta were had set up & had extra corn their... Most reciepies pretty much all start out with the use of corn , it gives it a stronger oder... Biggest factor is were placed, like with stand placement, wind plays a difference, ya have ta be their at right time, & depends on how bad the hog problem is in area...

If the hogs are coming to the feeder like it is a dinner bell, then you know when to be there and be ready for them, right? Why are you worried about the hogs staying longer? Just how long does it take you to pull the trigger?

The hogs on my lease seldom came around when the feeders went off, more often they came around at some later hour after dark (11pm to 4 am) or sometimes just before dark. They seemed to have no schedule.

Just how long does it take you to pull the trigger? Think ya miss understood what he's saying... Dinner bell is something ya hear, not smell... Several years back, corn feeders were low, not spilling onto the spinner plate... noticed some big hog tracks around feeder, so shook corn down on feeder, next morning, feeder slung what little corn was on plate, could still hear it spinning, 100yrds away in my box stand, no corn falling... here cam a hog, dropped it... Same feeder, on a tri-pod moved it over when tree feel, full of corn, 3 nights in a row hogs tipped feeder over... like the smell, sound attracts hogs... They smell the bait, yet they dont stay their 24-7... Rather when they feel its safe, usualy under the cover of dark... If hogs are with in the smell or sound of bait, it lets them know their food available... they pattern hunters same way deer have...

Corn. But I hang a piece of cloth drenched with vanilla extract at a place where the shot will be best. It is too high for most hogs to reach but they come over to smell it, raise up their heads, and boom.

With just a scent I believe the hogs may come in once or twice but they realize there is nothing to eat and move on. The hogs may even not be attracted to that scent in the future as it is not associated with food. Using something with a strong smell to bring attract needs to backed up with a real meal, and that is corn. If there is corn the hogs will keep returning without the strong attractant scent.

They seemed to have no schedule. This is a good indication that they probably have plenty of other or better resources elsewhere that they are hitting before your place and that they are not living immediately local to your place. This is the same situation I usually have. They are going to get there when they get there.

first lease was on, they would tear up the pvc corn feeders trying ta get to the corn. Like deer they learn ta pattern hunters, dang android, keeps kicking out, & feeding time was 99% done at night.... WMA, no baiting during archery only deer&hog hunts, get off old atv trails back were plenty of hog sign, usred climbing or chain on stands with the stick ladders... Very seldom seen or heard hogs... 99% of time hogs feeding at night less hunting pressure... see if this posts...

We use corn where they are used to it, around feeders etc.. When we find fresh rooted areas we've had good luck with soured, spent brewers grain. Milk stout grain works really well with some molasses mixed in. Our hunts are always drive down and hunt a few days so we use what they are used in the feeders but the spent grain has worked well for us in new spots. We usually let it sour for about 10 days before the hunt if possible. We've also found the strawberry jello works well for traps near corn feeders, mix it with a can of cheap beer.

As an aside I have found that the cheap vanilla extract to attract hogs that get a whiff of it.
