I have one of these and I can't get a good group... I'll get it dead on at 25 yards then when I go out to a 100 it will be 6-8" high and left... Am I doing something wrong or is this what I should expect from this gun? Thanks for any advice or input

You can't expect a 25 yard zero to be a 100 yard zero. What optic are you running, and even though in the middle of the bullseye, how tight is the group itself?

An AR with scope puts the scope between 2-3 inches above your barrel so to be on at 100 you would need to be about 2 inches low at 25 yards so that's one thing. I never bother sighting in close I just use a 3ft square target at 100 and 9 times out of 10 you will hit paper and then fine tune from there.
Now to group size what type ammo? There are several variables but if you are shooting Match grade ammo it should shoot maybe 1 to 1.5 inch groups at 100 with decent optics and a decent shooter.

I once had a BM that had an improperly machined upper reveiver, so the barrel was crookedly mounted. POI was screwed up at different ranges. BM fixed it.

Is it a Carbon 15? I had one of those and it was so flexible we called it the pool noodle. Shot pie plate sized groups at 100 yards.
If it's not a Carbon 15, what size were your groups at 100 yards?
With ARs, I usually start at 50 to get close, then move to 100 for fine tune. Most of my stands are exactly 100 yards from front of stand to center of feeder so that works for me.

I have one and pretty accurate for 5 shots, then barrel heats up and shots go awry. May be the problem here.

Just another case of "you get what you pay for" there is a reason these cheap AR's are $400 and wont group. They are for people who just want an "AR" and make allot of noise. But if this is all you got and what you like to do... this is the type performance to expect. Now you can spend another $400 making it worth having, quit buying Tula and boxes of cheap bulk ammo and boom, there ya go.

As posted, POI should be fairly different between 25 and 100. How was the group itself at 100?
Assuming the group itself is not good:
1. Double-check all mounting hardware. 2. Double-check the weapon itself. 3. Do you know for sure the scope is ok? 4. If all of the above checks out, get some GOOD ammo in various weights/brands and do some work at the range.
The only thing I think you could easily change after that would be the trigger.

I am no rifle expert, but my PSA 6.8 shoots as good as my Modern Outfitters. Now i dp hunt with the PSA because i am less concerned with dinging it or getting it wet. I zero at 50 yards, which puts my about an inch high at 100 and even at 150, using Hornady 120 sst.

the line of sight with mil-spec iron sights crosses the arc of the normal .223 trajectory at 25 yds going up and 200 yds coming back down. If you sight in at 25 yds. you would expect to be 2 or 3 inches high at 100yds. Sighting in at 25 yds. only gives you a rough idea of where the bullet will actually hit down range. A tiny little bit to the left at 25 yds. will look a lot farther to the left at 100 yds. and the same for altitude... BTW, I'm amazed at how accurate my cheapo PSA shoots!

Having it a little high and left or right after sighting it in at 25 is normal. The only reason you want to use 25 yards is just to get it on paper and then go really sight it on a longer distance.
Sight it in at 100 and then your done. Except if you do decide to hunt with it then you need to sight it in with your chosen hunting bullet.
Buy the cheapest ammo you can find and go shoot the piss out of it because that is what it is for.
I would expect 2-4 inch groups at 100 yards with cheap ammo.
have fun!
