Got an email this morning that the new Land Management Assistance program is up and running. I have not logged is yet. Will probably try it out later today.

Not sure exactly what prob your having but I have noticed that when you click on the link provided in the email it takes a little bit for it to download---you may look at a blank screen for a bit. Also, On the sign in page it says the sight is NOT SUPPORTED BY INTERNET EXPLORER. I did not read this at first and was having a heck of a time editing my map. Once I switched to Chrome It was easy. The only problem I have now is when I submit my request for permits I get an error message. From what I understand doing this will show me the number of permits I get and then I have to accept them--/which you can't do until August...I just want to see what each option has to offer me but it will not tell me. Maybe tomorrow?

Good to know that it is not internet explorer compatible.
I stumbled for a while after adding the map of my property, because you also have to add a map for the management unit. My property is the same as my management unit. It kept saying I had not drawn a map yet when I got to the management unit section. I had to draw the map twice, once for the property and again for the management unit.

Big_Ag thanks for the link. It works perfect and I went ahead and used google chrome and had 0 issues.
They sure are generous with the doe tags. I was hoping for 4 or 5 and am allowed 14. Wonder if your penalized for not using all your tags?

Your more than welcome. Sounds like you might need to invest in another freezer or two.

I used the estimator and it was pretty much the same as I have received in the past 2 seasons. I decided to stick with the conservation option so we can use a rifle (for the branched bucks) during Oct if we want. My Biologist says he will spend the next few weeks approving wildlife management plans and then once approved my pending status will change to active. I will have to start doing spot light surveys and observation logs on the 15th of this month. I will turn all this info into him at end of August and he will issue my permits in Sept based upon this data I turned into him---all just like the old system which I am fine with.

I've got a question if you guys don't mind.....
We have a mule deer property enrolled in this MLD program. The only option for us is the harvest option. Do you know if the enrollment will automatically switch over to this new plan once the landowner signs the electronic authorization forms? Thanks.

The landowner must sign the electronic authorization before either enrollment option can be selected is my understanding.

Used it today, I a member of a Wildlife Management Association but each member still needs to go through the setup steps. The Association and our Biologist did a very good job prepping us.

Our lease was LAMPS for the last two years. I used the estimator last night to see what the new program would do for us- only two buck tags and six doe tags. That doesn't work too well for six members. It's one thing to not shoot a buck when it is your choice but it is hard to convince any new members to join when we would have to have a drawing to see who gets the buck tags.

The one thing the Biologist told us to do as active participants in the MLD program was to not pay attention to the "Estimator". It uses region-specific data, not data from your property, it's for someone starting at ground zero. Check with your biologist that you have been working with for an estimate for your property.

That estimator definitely errs on the conservative side, just checked 550 acres of high deer density woods in east texas and it allotted only 3 deer tags I think they maybe shoulda kept that option in the beta version...

When we met with Biologist he said to be in compliance you must use at least 60%, but that up to the individual Biologist.

Our "estimator" is close on mature bucks, wildly too few on spikes, & ludicrously way too many on does. I'm not sure that we could shoot 1/2 the does, if we shot everyone that we saw all season. I hope TP&WD isn't telling everyone in my area to shoot that mny does, or they are gonna wipe them out.

I just finished going through the LMA system for the Conservation side. We had a problem from the start with a completely different property shown and 2 different averages shown. It took me two days to get that straightened out, make a new map, enter the harvest data and the management practices for the last two years, submit for MLDP plan, and now we are waiting to hear back from the biologist.
To me the new system is the same deal in a different package format. We still do the same spotlight counts and record keeping. I do like that they made a mobile app for it and it's easy to use. The basic function of the LMA works fine now but I guess because of the traffic to their system, mine keeps locking up, throwing me out a few times, and lots of time on the phone getting in touch with someone on the phone help line.
Also, I did notice that it will still have me logged in when I come back. It will show you at the login screen and appear ready for you to click on Login, yet show you logged in the upper right. You wont be able to go further until you logout and then login again. That shouldn't happen but according to the operator I spoke with today it has been happening.

Most harvest recommendations probably don't meet the hunter density on most places. Using the system is probably an eye opener for a lot of people.
Hopefully those that really don't need it get off of it and go back to what the program was intended for.
