I was looking through the new Dillon catalog and see these bifocal shooting glasses with the Top Bifocal models running almost twice the cost. As a bifocal, trifocal, progressive lens wearer I have never heard of them.
Anybody use them?

I have a pair. They are pretty good at reading charts while quail hunting. I'm not sure of the brand or where they are now.

I saw those. I had to have a special lens made to shoot bulls eye with handguns, Is this what these are for? Never knew a need. I'm a progressive wearer, PITA for a shooter

Never heard of them but I just had to start wearing glasses to drive (couldn't pass the stupid eye test at the DMV) so about a week after getting them, I decided to shoot and see if there are any issues. Now with glasses on, the sights on the gun are blurry but the target is much more clear. Not bad but bad enough that I want to find something better for shooting.

Learn instinct shooting and you will not need to see the sights.

I had the optometrist set my last pair extra low in the field of view. I just don't see how you would get used to the bifocal on top.

Ok, i will admit I don't need readers yet (sooner rather than later), but as a professional in the optics arena I am struggling to find the utility to having bifocal on top for shooting??

My understanding of the optics in shooting is a scope can be dialed for prescription but the scope should be a distance cocus and not need bifocal.
The handgun scoped is also distance and not bifocal, while the hand gun open sights is not close enough for bifocal but not quite distance either, what we call intermediate range.
Shotgunning should be closer to distance than intermediate, but again not close enough for bifocal.

Maybe the term "bifocal" is not a true bifocal range and is simply a small add which gets into more the intermediate range?

Really would like to know about this as I get questions about where the best focus is for shooting all the time.

For bird hunting they are going to be great, I had no idea how bad my eyes were at 10' and beyond, now everything is clear as can be. I dont use sights for shotgun but I do with pistol or rifle.

Just saw this. I'm 56 and wear progressive lenses. My optometrist is a pistol shooter. While I was in his office for new glasses, I talked to him about shooting with aging eyesight. He suggested he set the intermediate vision at arms length in my dominant eye and the other eye a bit further. I rolled the dice and went with it. Shooting a pistol with both eyes open for me is like having 20 year old eyes again. I'm not an optometrist so I'm not 100% how he set them up, but if you like shooting pistols it might be worth talking to your eye doctor.

In my job before retirement, several of my co-workers had the bifocal on top part of the lense. We were constantly looking up and had to see a lot of fine details and read small print. They all said the setup worked good, they just had to get accustomed to them.
