Just got back from several days of mixed bag hunting in Argentina on a beautiful ranch north of Buenos Aries on the Uruguay border. I did a daily blog post in the migratory bird section, but thought I'd post the pic's here as well. Day 1 at Las Perdices Lodge. Our red-eye flight from DFW landed and cleared customs by 9am, then a 4 hour drive to the Lodge. Arrived in time for a late lunch and some outstanding dove hunting that evening. Took a while to get a hang of the twenty gauge Beretta, but eventually got it cooking and shot 109 birds in two and a half hours. (Our group of four shot 350+ the first evening). Then some quality time relaxing before a fabulous dinner. Day 2 began with a morning duck hunt. Cinnamon and Speckled Teal poured into our decoys for several hours. The lodge rule is 20 duck or 2 boxes of shells per morning. A 20 duck limit was easy for most of the group. This area has a plague of both dove and parakeet. The parakeets build huge communal nests that can be heard for a mile. Here is what the outer edge of the corn fields look like from all the bird damage. Farmers in the area loose up to 30% of their grain production to birds. Tomorrow we're taking Fidel the English Pointer out to chase Perdiz partridges. It's a little to windy this afternoon so hanging by the fire with a couple good buds and a cup of coffee. Then lunch and a siesta before heading to the dove field. Day 2 dove hunting was great with another 125 dove and I got my first "Bonus Bird". PETA would have a fit, but they ask us to shoot any parakeets we can. They are especially hard on the corn crop.

Day 3 ducks were a carbon copy of yesterday. My brother shot a nice Silver Teal... to bad it's such a headache to export these things for taxidermy. We made a group bet on most doves harvested in ten boxes for the evening hunt. I hedged my wager with a quick offering to the Virgin Mary after our Perdiz outing. After another great evening of dove hunting, we broke out the spotlight and did some Texas style hare hunting out of the back of the pickup. These bunnies weigh close to 10lbs each and are great eating according to our outfitter. Day 4 we tried a new flooded maze field for ducks and had 20 bird limits in no time. Also saw a pair of southern river otters! A very rare sighting of this endangered species. BTW food at the lodge is OUTSTANDING. Here's an example of Chef Leo grilling pork belly, sausage and ribs for lunch on Day 4, which was quickly followed with a meat coma siesta. Dinner for our last night was mixed bag stew with Perdiz partridges and brown hare. Every meal cooked was done in this fireplace over hot coals. Even the pizza! On Day 5 before heading home we shot several Perdiz over a hard working English Pointer and Viszla. And a here's group pic of us and the entire team at Las Perdices Lodge. Our totals for the trip were 2000+ dove, 185 duck, 8 partridges, 8 parakeets and 22 hares. Great mixed bag trip I can highly recommend Accommodations were comfortable, food, drink and service outstanding! Anyone considering an Argentina dove trip should really look at TSC Outfitters and Las Perdices Lodge.

Interesting side note. During this hunt we were standing crotch deep in a flooded tributary of the Uruguay river, which has plenty of piranhas. Only one duck disappeared mysteriously. Outfitter assured us that there was no danger on our part, but I let the bird boys retrieve all these bleeding ducks just to be safe

Bucket list trip for sure. Did you ever feel like safety was an issue? Never. Buenos Aires feels very much like a European city. Didn't spend much time in the City as we'd already decided that we'd rather be at the lodge than sight seeing.

FYI... Had a couple PM's and calls about more information on this trip. Feel free to reach out if you have questions. I talked to the outfitter about creating a special package or pricing for THF members and he agreed to put something together. As soon as it hits my inbox I'll put something up.

Awesome pics! I've been wanting to do that for years now. Do you get to keep the meat? That may sound dumb, but I have no idea how that works, lol.
