I believe these are Swainson's hawks. Found them in Reeves County. The parents circled overhead and squawked at me, but never came in. There was a horny toad and a snake in the nest that the young were eating on. Anyone know what kind of plant that is that they built the nest on?

Thanks. It looks like a tree trunk with a yucca stuck on top. It was the highest structure in the area, which, from what I read, is all it takes for a Swainson's to build a nest on it. It was about 7' tall.

The "tree" is the yucca stalk. It is an old one to have grown that high. Great pics. Sneaky I sent you a PM.
