I am nearing retirement now. It could be as close or closer than 3 years. My bride and I decided we want to build a fishing hunting camp in Matagorda. We purchased an acre and have picked a builder to build the cabin and guest cabin/s. We will be offering fully guided duck hunts with a nice lodge and a place to stay. I think duck hunting started suffering with the day leases. It is still a good and often times the only way people get to go, but I want to offer the old school method. I want a father to bring his children and be able to stay all weekend, with gumbo, steaks ect, a campfire on the beach. I am in no way knocking the day hunter guides, I am just shooting for something different. In the spring we will offer kayak fishing trips as well.

Me too. There is a lot to be done but we will get it finsished. We are going a little different style. All the ceilings will be old v crimp galvenized (Although rusted) roofing material. We re-roofed our ranch house in Flatonia and I kept the tin. The walls will be a gray glazed painted 3/4 boards and the floors hardwood.

I sure like your ideas for your Map My Ranch company. Especially on the hood and the cooler.

Thanks, Wayne! If you ever need one, I'll obviously hook you up with a heck of a deal.
PS - Still appreciate the extra time you took with my Weimaraner years ago!
All the best, brother!

Here is the front yard

The backyard. Duck central. The great thing about it, it is too far for most people to go duck hunting. They have to pass miles of fabulous duck country to get here. They stop short of out there as they don't need to go so far. We were there on the beach for a few hour and never saw another person. There was one group of wade fisherman in the bay, that was it.

We went out the other day and on the way back my bride saw some birds working. She threw in and hooked up before I could stop the boat. She got a spanish mac and I threw in and hooked this 3 foot blacktip on a spoon with 10 lbs test line. I never thought I would land it. I got a bad arse bride. She was laying down in the boat netting this 3 foot shark with a trout net. She aint scared. This is one of the best eating fish there is in my opinion.

I blackened the fillet pieces, spectacular

I can't wait to be able to go to duck camp in October and come home at the end of January.

Yes and yes. I have a 25 kw generator, solar, and will have a well dug. My buddy jetted his own well for less than 100bucks.

This will put a whole new twist on the Texas hunting forum get together duck hunt.

I picked this up the other day. 1983 jeep Cherokee 4 WD. The previous owner had it sprayed with tan and black bed liner. I can't wait to get this to the island. That island section is 25 miles long. I am going to put a front rack for an ice chest and rod holders. I like fishing the surf for trout. This thing will be perfect for driving up the beach for surf fishing or driving to a duck blind on the other side, bay side, of the island.
