I know the basics, but need advice on using a box blade to fill groups of deep holes created by feral hogs. The challenge is keeping the box and cutter at the right position when the tractor is moving in and out of holes that are are close together.
Thanks in advance.

Plowing or loosening existing soil will help if you can do that first; even with scarifier teeth if nothing else.
Try and keep your bucket half full until you get the hang of it, knowing then when to gather more and put out more.
Start with large paths or circles, then to smaller ones as you get close, then to larger when you are nearly finished. When trying to finish something smooth, gradually work it with a full bucket, then gradually deplete that ...

I have always worked across the rooted area, which makes it impossible to keep the box at a more constant level. By going around the outide area in circles that grow smaller with each pass, the tractor and blade are kept more level with better results, even if only a part of the box is filling in the holes. Did I explain that correctly?

Don't feel bad. Im awful on a box blade. I'm a lot faster with a loader bucket in filling low spots and getting them smooth.

I think they work best on semi flat areas like a driveway since tractors have such a short wheel base. Unlike a grader that has the wheels spread far apart.

I don't have a box blade, but when we have large areas of hog rooting to smooth out I will usually only tend to the holes large enough to stick the tractor (not 4x4 and sandy soil) with the FEL, then drak a disk over it slow enough that you don't knock your teeth out.

This is a good method. Another thing I have rigged up is a piece of chain link fence, about 6'x6' that I will drag behind the box to add the finishing touch. It helps fan out the material and will look like a MLB in-field when you get done.

First you need to break ground... drop the rippers and drop the three point.. get it all bladed and broken up with the piles to one side of the lines... then you need to use your draft control and set the depth.. run over the pile if possible or make a bunch of smaller piles so you can... drop the box grab the pile and set it at the level you want... then pull until your out of dirt... extra dirt may be required... I like these two options for what your wanting to do rather than a box blade This is a power rake... make for such jobs or seedbeds or even tearing up an old lawn This is more my style... land leveler.. very easy drop and go machine.. dirt clumps with grass are not near as easy with this as the power rake is the hitch
