Never before have I seen this. I knew it could happen, but I have never seen it. He was a goodly sized boar and entered briefly into low earth orbit after sucking up 2 shots...

Hog says "Not Today" to dying Or at least "Not Here …" Oh Well, you can't recover them all. Keep after 'em!

I like that. Like you I have never seen it but been told they can jump fairly well.

Wish you could have recovered him but if you had dropped him before the fence you would have never gotten that cool video

I like that. Like you I have never seen it but been told they can jump fairly well. Hogs 'prefer' to run around, under or through things....BUT they can 'jump' much better than most folks realize. Anyone that has trapped hogs in a large pen type trap will attest to that. 2'-3' is nothing for a hog (of normal ability) 4' is about the practical limit. That is why I use 5' panels on my traps. Even then...they climb them to get out.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

Yeah, I have seen video of hogs climbing out of fenced enclosures, usually, but not always, out of corners (which is why corners are bad), and jumping low panels such as the one demo'd by Texas A&M's extension service, or jumping part way and climbing the rest, but never jumping this high and certainly not by a wounded hog.
Sort of like with other livestock, many hogs simply won't jump, even when they have the capability.

I nailed a late night boar a couple weeks ago that was also an acrobat. I hit him through the front and broke both shoulders. He did a break dance in the sand for a while and I didn't think he would be going anywhere. First thing I knew he started scooting across the sand and took a good 4' jump in the air. Combined with some smaller jumps, he managed to make it about 20 yds into dense vegetation before he gave up the ghost.

I snared a large boar and my buddies neighbor killed it while checking fence lines. When I checked the snare the tree next to the snare was ripped to shreds from ground level to about 5 ft up I don't know exactly what happened but it would have been cool to see how he did that to that cedar.

Cool video. Have heard of them climbing/jumping out of traps or over panels. But never seen a wounded one jump a barbed wire fence. That was pretty cool

Very cool to catch that on video. That is one of them things that people say they have seen but no one has proof of it, like whitetail jumping 8 foot fences.
