Not DIY

Anyone have a ballpark idea what it would cost to have someone do this?

I did one similar at my last house with help from two friends with three yards on concrete.

You going to be able to put it that close to your lot line? Is there permanent easement there?

Digging out the turf will be more difficult than pouring the concrete.

4 to 6 bucks a sq foot is a good price to go on that I have always seen.

you are looking at 52.51 cubic feet or 1.95 cubic yards of concrete for a 4" thick slab (without any beams) or about 88 bags of sakrete (80 pound bags or$365.20 + tax at Home Depot) if you rent a mixer ...

I would think the going rate would vary based on location and demand, but around central Texas, $9.50 to $12.00 a square foot including excavation ... $500-650

here is an online calculator that might give you an estimate for your zip code ... cost to install concrete pad estimator by zip

I had two and a half good helpers and we poured a 10x16x4" slab using a gas powered mixer, it was a LONG day!!! I totally missed my calculations on how much sakrete was needed (thinking it took 27 bags for a cubic yard, where it's actually 45 bags). I had to make 2 extra trips to HD.

If DIY, make sure you drill and epoxy rebar into existing slab #4 rebar 16" on center at least 6" penetration, rebar in the field 16" o.c., put in a thicken edge on perimeter at least 10"-12" wide and deep.

I'm about to be doing the same thing but a little bit bigger. I'm tired of paying $100/month to store my RV.

At a previous home I did a larger version of this. I cheeped out and did not hire pros. After 7 years that thing was broken in pieces small enough that a skidsteer would have had no problem loading and hauling it away.

DON'T CHEEP OUT!

I never used rebar in mine and it turned out fine.

Just did this on my drive (7' wide). Piece of advice...check your city codes to see if a permit is required. You may not be able to go that close to the easement and you may be required to maintain the "approach".

I'm having a 12x20 poured at my new house for additional parking, $4.50 a sqf is what I was quoted by the builder.

Inlaws had something similar done a few months back, it ran them $1,600 and they price shopped. Small jobs cost more/sq.ft. than larger ones.

A good option would be to excavate form and reinforce on your own and have the cement poured.

No one I've heard of is placing concrete for that price - if they are they can't be making any money or they are desperate for work. At 6", it's almost 3 yds of concrete, which will cost you $400 in mud alone. At 4" it's 2 yds which will cost you almost $400 as well - that's right, no one right now is real keen on delivering much less than 3 yds unless you use one of those tote it yourself jobbies from a small batch plant. I would also hammer out that rectangle and place it all in one piece. I personally would never lay a 4" pad for a driveway although I know people do it all the time.

You probably have a 4-6' setback with that fence. You may not care however but if you get called on it you can deal with it later. Looks like you're interrupting the natural drainage so I would make sure you reshape the dirt in front of the pad and create a swale between your drive and the fence or even put in a catch basin and drain pipe for any water that flows out the to the street otherwise it will undermine the corner of your pad.

Look for yard crews in your area. Anyone can do it.

he's right ya know.

I would add that doweling that small a pc is not a good idea, use wire or rebar tied in a mat and let that section float with an expansion joint between existing and new, use gravel, not sand, for base and DO NOT pour right on the dirt (water will cause the expansion/contraction to crack it much faster).

I would also recommend a 6" depth due to the size then you don't need as much of a turndown, 6" on edge will help keep water out from under it.

poured a few thousand yds. as a commercial carpenter/homebuilder.
