Test doesn't seem accurate to me. How can a fish on land starving for air give a true bite. Kinda seems a bit cruel to keep him out so long for your enjoyment. Put one in water and get it to bite you or try atleast. exactly he is so proud to praise the great gar but has no problem hooking them, stressing them out, and then posing for pictures with them unable to breathe out of the water just for his pleasure you troll this hard and dont know gar have a primitive lung capable of breathing out of the water?

He may not of known that Flower, and that's ok. What isn't OK is for you to come on here like you did and bash bowfisherman. You did, and pretty heavy at times. Then you get butt hurt when you hear things you don't like. You created your own monster with your drama. You made your bed, sleep in it. You act like everyone is out to kill and waste the alligator gar up until the point of their extinction. You like to catch and release gar, some like to eat them, some do waste them but no different than they do with gasper goo or carp. I respect your passion, but your passion doesn't give you the right to tell others how to act. Chill. The alligator gar was here before us, and they will be here after us. Most people don't care about them either way, they will be fine. I think they are cool as chit, but If I wanna shoot one or 5 for the table that's my business.

Did not know they could breath air. Never studied them and wasn't trolling. Just an observation of the experiment. I will stand by the fish just being caught with a hook and reeled in laying on the bank and held by a human was stressed out so the experiment was flawed. Jmo

How did they get the trash fish stigma? They have always been table fare for me.

I don't know who is dumber, flower child or ole REALKILLER. either way it's a sorry note on the state of intelligence in our country. I'd rather see his video of experimenting with the destructive energy of a speeding semi.

all i did was get clarification from TPWD on dumping and burying fish. its already illegal, to do so makes you a poacher. there really isnt anything to argue from there. dont dump your fish, dont bury your fish im not the one telling you not to TPWD is. If you are aware its illegal and do it anyway you are a poacher stealing form all of us me, you, our children and their children.

Interesting video even though I don't fish much at all. The video does not change my opinion of that species of fish, by I enjoy your passion for wanting to learn as well as educate others.

Flower loves Alligator Gar, that's cool. I'm a fisherman too. It's the preaching that gets old to some, just sayin'. I personally like to eat alligator gar and find them fun to shoot with a bow. I have a buddy from S Louisiana that makes a good little chunk of money every year filling boats with them/cleaning them & selling to restaurants/fish markets. There is no shortage of them. I agree, they are really cool. I've had some close encounters with some pretty big gar fish that I will always remember. No, they are not aggressive for the most part and are definitely prehistoric. : My thoughts as well. These fish are good to eat as are needle nose gar. They are native fish and are not invasive. I would not describe them as a trash fish. I shoot a lot of needle nose fishing but have never shot an alligator gar.

Since your last little drama post I decided to just ignore you but since you constantly keep using the word Poacher I have to come back in. Would you at least learn what that term means and use it in a proper manner. None of what you described is proper. To poach would be to trespass or to take illegally, neither fit your argument. It's the illegal taking that make it poaching, not the illegal handling or disposal, that's simply a game violation.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

One time I was researching a multi day canoe trip. Being I'd never done it i was searching the internet. I came across a forum of kayakers. Without doing much pre reading as to what the forum was about I signed on and asked a question.
Well the results were similar to every post that ol gar hippie post. I gave a few parting remarks and went on my way. I did not continue to post to a board that basically did not share my interest.
Gar hippie try that.

I will never discourage what he does even though I don't have the same passion he does for it, this guy takes his kids fishing almost everyday, he spends time on the river and cares about it and tries to encourage others to take care of a natural resource. He has a way of doing that most don't find conventional but he is doing a lot more than a lot of folks sitting behind their computers telling him he's crazy are doing. His entire family is envolved in his fishing and all them have caught nice fish you can't say that for a lot of folks on here.
