Garage sale find. I'd like to shoot it. It needs nipples, they are missing. It's a CVA. Any help would be great. TIA

Scroll down until you get to the one for an 1851 pistol.

Mine takes .454 balls and #2 percussion caps. 10-25 grains of FFFg or black powder substitute like Pyrodex (in a pistol grind. - Much finer than for rifles, IIRC). Academy should have the stuff. Get a Starter Kit with with all the doodads you'll need, maybe a nipple wrench as well.

confused2 thought it used the #10 or #11 caps... some colts do use the .454 rb my pards was .451 should be a sliver of lead when seated... they sell grease tube ta fill cyllender after seating balls, if loading all cyllanders, crysco also works... flag

I think most BP pistols these days call for .454 balls in order to seal the chambers better to prevent chain fires from the front. My Pietta takes #11 caps.
