Garage sale find. I'd like to shoot it. It needs nipples, they are missing. It's a CVA. Any help would be great. TIA

Its a colt, looks like 1851... 451 rb... looks like the one my pard had, forget how many grs it used... My book is in Texas, out-dated 1970's... can look on line, for more info... wish could be of more help... they fun ta choot... not sure what nipples would cost... Some of the others on here could be more helpful... as pappy say's: keep your head held high & your powder dry ...

Mine takes .454 balls and #2 percussion caps. 10-25 grains of FFFg or black powder substitute like Pyrodex (in a pistol grind. - Much finer than for rifles, IIRC). Academy should have the stuff. Get a Starter Kit with with all the doodads you'll need, maybe a nipple wrench as well.

I think most BP pistols these days call for .454 balls in order to seal the chambers better to prevent chain fires from the front. My Pietta takes #11 caps.
