I dare say, I'll never be without one. I'm on my second barrel, and I know it like an old friend. Loading for it, shooting it, calling wind for it, elevation corrections for it. When it stops behaving like I know it should, it's simply time for a new barrel because I've shot out another one.

They did a good job on the article. The cartridge just does a lot of jobs really well.

If I ever go 6.5 it'll likelybe x47L (aka the twin). There is no disputing the performance of the round.

X47 is a great one!

It won't make the velocity of the 6.5 Creedmoor, but I've never seen a Creedmoor produce the tiny ES that the X47 can.

One day, I'd like to build my daughter's centerfire rifles. They'll probably be X47. Less recoil, great performers, and well.....I don't have one. smile

I'm currently sitting at both sides with a 6mm and the 7mm but think a 6.5 for my girls would be nice. After several long conversations with Rick 2700 is all that is needed and will typically run 4k on a barrel. Hard to beat that without getting more recoil.

Since Lapua is making Creedmoor brass with small primer pockets now, there's no reason to get a x47. Especially if you think you'll ever need to buy a box of factory ammo.

You hardly ever get the low sd numbers of a x47 out of a creed.

Only problem with the Lapua brass having small rifle primers are, the factory firing pins in 6.5CM are for Large rifle, I had to convert my sons because I was piercing primers. Talk about dirty the hell out of a trigger.

Even with Lapua SR primers? I would be surprised if you couldn't get equal numbers but I have not tried it.
I have a box of the 6.5 Lapua but plan on using in the 22 Creed.
Just speculating but the fact that Lapua even started making Creedmoor brass tells me they see the inevitable overshadowing of the Creedmoor over the 47L

I'm getting low single-digit SDs with mine. That's with H4350. I'm about to work up a load with RL16 and see what happens.

X47 is usually in the under 5 for sd while creed seens to float a touch higher. The fact lapua started creed is marketing. Creed is hugely popular due to factory offerings and the factory ammo. X47 brass still sells like crazy and is sometimes hard to get. It and dasher are holding some solid records in br too.

^^That's what I think.

For my own rifle, I've got so much brass, I'll just keep running the 6.5 Creedmoor, though. Plus the fact that I'm making a 140 gr leave at 2825 fps MV.
