Need some advice...my potato plants (2) have started to dry up. I was told this happens just before you harvest the potato. The potato's I can see in the ground are still green...should I leave them in the ground even though the plant is dying?

Thanks in advance.

The potatoes that you can see in the ground turned green because of the exposure to the air. They should be green only on one side. They are fine to eat. They are about ready to dig when the tops start dying. Dig one and leave the other.

Thanks ETX and Bill for your comments. I have more than 2 plants but just the 2 I mentioned have started to die back. Looked at them again today and have some that are smaller than they should be. I will work on the dead one's and see what happens.
Thanks!

Here are some that I dug earlier. There will always be a few small ones in there. I did not include them in this picture.

I cut the plants at the base 2 days after they started to dry out. Then dug 2 or 3 days after I cut them
