Waterfowl prep-work is in full swing. We started pumping ponds last week because we have a handful of ponds that we want to keep water on throughout the hot summer months to promote aquatic vegetation growth. The rain we received yesterday helped, but we are still running the pumps to get the ponds water levels where we want them. We also started discing ponds last week and will start levee maintenance on a dozen or so ponds sometime tomorrow depending how things dry out. We are just a couple weeks out from starting to plant ponds and once that process starts it will last about a month as we'll be stage planting and rotating varieties. This is just the beginning as we have a LOT of work to do to get everything ready for this upcoming waterfowl season.

New water control structure has been placed on a set of retention ponds and we have started pumping water to start storing in preparation for waterfowl season. Finished pumping on another pond and had a lizard friend come visit while we were removing relift. The much needed rain we received has things a little too wet for the maintainers to work on levees, but we're getting everything ready so once it dries out they can get to work on them and placing all the overflow structures as well.
