I've had a bow for a few (5?) years now sitting in my attic. I want to start using the bow this upcoming deer season, but since it's been sitting, and I have only shot kid compound bows recreationally, I've got a few questions:
1) I'm left-handed (and left eye dominant) and the bow is right-handed. I've been told both ways I can wear an eye patch and use my right eye to sight, or I should trade this in and get a new bow. Opinions?
1a) Given the age of my bow, would there realistically be any resale value? (I will update this with product information later!)
2) What should I do to the bow to make sure the bow is fit for shooting?
2a) The bow has been sitting in the attic for the past years - will the summer heat have caused any issues? It's been in a hard case the entire time, so no UV damage. And what about the arrows that are currently with it?
3) Are there any accessories I should really consider getting if I don't already have them? I'm not sure what I have since it's been so long.
4) What should I use to determine arrow purchasing? I have some that came with it, but only a few.
If you have any other advice, let me know! And I know, of course, practice practice practice! I plan on shooting a lot this summer, I'm graduating college and have no job lined up, so I will have plenty of time to shoot arrows.
Thanks for the help!
My pack is usually heavier when I leave. I really need to stop collecting rocks.
