Did you see that Ruger has released a suppressed barrel for its popular 10/22 takedown model?

What do you think about this?

I saw one at SWFA on Saturday...think it was $799. Looked pretty sweet.

So the trade-off is you get a shorter gun and save $200 (no SBR tax) but the suppressor can't be used on any other weapon.

I was fixing to ask about this same suppressor. I have a buddy that has a fully integrated suppressed 10/22 and he shoots mini mags that sound like subsonic through a regular suppressor.

I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

Not sure it's worth the money. My takedown 10/22 with a suppressor is ultra quite, very handy and exceptionally accurate.

How much did it cost in comparison to the integrally suppressed version?

I can't speak for him but my 2 stamp 10/22 sbr with suppressor cost less than the Ruger integral and my suppressor isn't married to the host.

Can you break down costs a bit? Assume I have no stamps, trust, etc.

Trust $75
10/22 Lasermax $130
10" barrel $120
Huntertown Suppressor $100
Folding Stock $75
Sold factory laser stock and barrel (-$100)
Two NFA stamps $400

The Ruger barrel is $600 not sure if you can buy a TD receiver by itself but the cheapest TD I have seen was about $300.

Nevermind, it wasn't the same one as the one posted above. They had one that looked like an integrally suppressed barrel, but it may have not been.

Thanks for the response. So it's about $1100 total including the receiver?

I assume you still have to have the trust and stamps for the integrally suppressed version?

You got a good deal on that trust

No it was $890 including the rifle. I sold the lasermax stock and factory barrel for $100. So I'm at $790 all in for the SBR and suppressor.
I basically paid $30 for the receiver.

There are other things to look at also. You can save some money and bypass the trust altogether unless its something you feel you need. The sign off requirement went away last July. The advantage of a integral is the ability to use supersonic ammo and get subsonic results and no point of impact shift down range. The plus side to a screw on can is the ability to switch hosts at will and a bit easier on the maintenance. Also, some companies make an integral with a one piece removeable user serviceable monocore and other companies make removeable individual baffles. In my experience with all of them, baffles are quieter than monocores on either integral or screw on. Also, in my experience you get what you pay for. My first screw on can was a Yankee Hill Mite which is without a doubt one of the loudest and worst cans I have owned period. If its not a quality manufacturer with a reliable decibel rating I don't buy them and now as a dealer I won't sell them either. Specifically about the Ruger, it appears to have oversized baffles which should create more volume and I would be shocked if its not very quiet. I haven't got one in stock to test out yet though!

Tactical Solutions makes a barrel that has a shroud for a screw on 22 suppressor that is welded together so you can still have a short platform and not have the suppressor married to the host. Its the "Ruger 10/22 Takedown SB-X Barrel" .
