He was still alive, but ate up with maggots. On a better note, saw a bobcat cross the road, and my bluetick ran it til we got to private property. Then , he made two different trees with the coon! Fun night! Good luck to everyone.

Wow, what a night. Sounds like you have a good hound too.

Sounds like a good time, where are you hunting? Love the bluetick hounds. I train my dogs and keep them in shape on coons but really love chasing lions out west. Adios, Gary

What is the breeding behind you hounds? I'm in North Texas too and am always looking for something better to help out my pack.

The blue dog is grade. He was super gamey. I had to break him off everything in the woods before he started treeing coons. My other dog is a black&tan from James Blackburn. What do you have?

He was still alive, but ate up with maggots. Last Thanksgiving I rode with my old man to check the cows on one of his pastures thats covered with indian artifacts, not the run of the mill stuff that's a dime a dozen like scrapers and gravers, but exceptional specimens on par with museum quality points and blades, etc. We walked out to one of the spots he'd disced a few months prior that he'd said had a lot of artifacts exposed from the rains scouring the soil off the stuff that was close to the surface and we seperate and start criss crossing the field to see what we'd find. We'd hadnt been there long when I heard my old man say a few choice cuss words to no one in particular then holler for me to walk to where he was standing. He was staring at the ground and I couldnt see what he was looking at but as Igot closer I heard a bunch of cryiing and whimpering that sounded like puppies. When I got to where he was standing I saw what he was looking at; a litter of heeler pups, some spilling out of a big burlap bag they'd obviously been sacked up in then thrown away in the field like they were trash. The pups were crawling around on their bellies, wet and covered in dried mud. It hadn't rained for 3 or 4 days and from the looks of them they'd been out there in the cold and rain at least several days. We stood there, not saying a word, my dad still looking down at the pups when he looked me in the face and unholstered his 38. He said something under his breath and leaned over to shoot the first pup and I said to him "You don't want to do that. I sure as hell won't". And didnt say much as we sacked up those mangy scrawny pups and took them to the house. Coyote or not, seeing stuff like that pic bothers me. I saw alot of sad sh1t in the service and don't like to be reminded of it.

I arrived at our place a few weeks back and the wife found a dog that someone had dumped out. I thought it was interesting looking, with two-tone color that even went through it's eyes....two tone eyes. It had a bad leg and hadn't eaten in a good while. We fed it and tried to give it away...no neighbors wanted it....tried two animal shelters, but they were full. It wasn't perking up, and I sure didn't need a sick & hurt dog, so I ended up shooting it. I did my duty trying to see if anyone wanted it. I don't like to kill animals just because, but I sure am not going to take in every stray.....the neighbor down the road had a whole litter that someone dumped out, so he didn't need another.

The yote pup is just part of nature and I get that, but when some sorry SOB just dumps them out, that's an entirely different thing and that SOB needs a good old fashioned trip out behind the wood shed.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

Did you put it out of its misery?
