My 16 footer needs some new rubber. I wasn't happy with how long the tread lasted on the Taskmaster tires that were on it when purchased new.
Looking for the best option. Trailer is rated at 7000 lbs, and it's a tandem axle, so I should be good with either C or D load rating.
Majority of the use will be on highway, so I'm leaning towards a radial tire.
Interested to see what you guys have found to be reliable. I know some of you pull trailers of all sorts on a daily basis.

Maxxis brand. you can even get an E rated tire in 15"

since using mostly on the highway, be sure to check tire speed rating also!

I replaced those on my 16 footer with Carlisle Radial Trail HD, I don't recall but suspect I went with D load rating since the trailer is only rated at 7000 lbs.

I recently replaced my HD gooseneck trailer using Goodyear Endurance E rated ... do NOT use Goodyear Marathon!!!

I would buy LT radials.

Brand is not as important as long it's radials. I prefer 10 ply in the flint rock around this area.

I agree with what's posted above, on our light duty trailers we used to run a Goodyear Marathon. We started having problems with them and switched from an ST tire to a LT tire...

Get radial trailer tires. Don't know what brand mine are, but they have been trouble free for about 8,000 miles and the Mesquite thorns haven't bothered them. Get them balanced too

Trailer king radials off Amazon, great luck and put them on campers, trailers, etc with great luck.

Another vote for Maxxis, I'll never buy another Carlisle tire. And yes on the balancing.

shotgun willie, what issues have you had with Carlisle trailer tires? my trailer likely has over 10k miles on mine without issue.

I'd contact Brian 817 626-7874 off Jacksboro HWY in NW Ft Worth. He specializes in trailer tires including radials all sizes and differing ply. He has tires but you can buy new ones on new rims from him at better pricing that buying replacement tires, mounting and balance. He's a great guy and I've bought from him and use my take offs as spares. He's usually on Craig's List. I'm running a 10 ply load E and no complaints.

I've got 5 trailers that I alternate using just myself, 2 of them are used 3-4 days a week for business. On two separate occasions, with two separate batches, I've had new (less than 5k mile) Carlisles throw the tread at highway speed, tearing up fenders as they went. Both times it took an act of congress to simply get my money back for the cost of the tire, not including mounting, balancing, and fender replacement. One took 6 months dealing with Carlisle, and the other took 8. I learned how to read the date code on a tire because of Carlisle.

I just bought a pontoon boat with a single axle trailer. The first day I owned it it was at Discount Tire getting the Carlisle's taken off to be replaced.

The last 3 sets of tires on our TT have been Carlisle radials and a load range heavier than we needed. The oldes set was put on in 2000 and we started blowing them out in 2013 and replaced them with the exact same tire and load range. From 2013-Present we have gone through 2 sets of them and are on the third. They changed the tread pattern and maybe some other stuff on them, but we will not be buying any more of them, not what they used to be.

I don't remember what was on my living quarters horse trailer when we bought it but I replaced one with a Gladiator 14ply and I've been happy with it so when the others need replacing that's what I'll go with...

I run light truck-LT tires on every trailer I own. I haven't had any trailer tire problems in years using LT tires on them.

He's right, we don't run ST tires any more either... LT tires on our small trailers now.

These are great tires but we can't find them anymore and they better be good for the price.. think we got michalins on ours right now or coopers I'll check in the AM

Go with the Gladiator QR35-TS, it's a 14 ply steel carcass tire, looks like a tractor tire almost. I've had two on my gooseneck for 4 years now with 90 lbs in them with no sign of blowing out.

I'm running some E rated Maxis tires on my utility trailer. Had them about 4 years, hauled it all over my West Texas lease placing blinds and feeders and no flats.
