Scary little critters. I shot three pigs a few weeks back. They were loaded with ticks. I found two on me the next day, Menard County

I was driving home a few weeks ago after turkey hunting and felt something under my arm. I stopped at the next gas station and pulled it off.

Back when Uncle Sam directed my camping locations we would use flea collars on the out side of boots and sulfa dust on the pants legs. It worked pretty good most of the time. If your itching you better be looking or have a good hunting buddy who will. Oh yea those cheap auto inspection mirrors can help you look if your flying solo. Not every thing under the shed belongs there.

They have been bad at our place in south texas for 2 years now.
I don't know what all I'm going to do to keep them away, but off was not enough to do it last year! Trouble was most of the ticks I found were tiny, the size of a pin head, you just don't know they are there.
It's hell eatin em live

If your turkey hunting or anything where you know you'll get them hang your clothes up and spray them with permanone and let them dry. This stuff is the best tick repellent I have ever used. Used it up in Missouri I was the only one that did not get ticks while everyone else was covered in them.

Each year Texans contract Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Ehrlichiosis and Relapsing Fever. All of these diseases are transmitted by the bite of an infected tick. we use Permethrin on boots & pants & DEET on skin

The second most abundant tick in Alabama is the Lone Star tick. A single bite and you could develop an allergy to red meat and dairy products.

we had them bad in our yard last year, only two so far this year. They would jump off the dog and creep on you from the carpet at night. The wife was not happy until she was sure they were all gone. They can live for up to a year without feeding..

Lyme disease aint no joke ... I just talked with a gal yesterday I've worked with for many years, we hadn't talked in a while. She's battling Lyme disease right now. Mis-diagnosed for many months, she's got quite the rehab ahead of her. Charlie

As of right now, there’s no cure. http://tampa.cbslocal.com/2017/05/03/tick-powassan-deadly/

I can handle snakes, skunks, rats, possums, racoons and my wife when she's super pissed at me.. But I freaking hate ticks... Hate 'em..
I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

That is the good stuff! Once applied to clothes and gear, it will last the whole hunting trip. It is also scent free after it dries. There is no worse place on the planet for ticks and chiggers than Laguna Atascosa NWR. I used permethrin on my clothes and footwear and used Repel Tick Defense with picaridin on my skin (which is also scent free after it dries). The other two guys in my group just used deet. They got eaten up by ticks and chiggers. I did not.

Permethrin is the way to go. You can also spray it in your box blind... don't stay in there for a day but it will kill ticks, spiders and about anything that crawls.
