Ordered the Swaro Z5 today...got the 3.5-18x44 with ballistic turret and 4W reticle.
I found some pretty good deals on the new VX-6HD for several hundred dollars off and prob gonna go with one of those as my second. It's a few hundred more than the old VX-6 but if the glass is better and illuminated reticle I think it would be worth it on a scope I'm gonna have forever. Still trying to decide on Firedot or TMOA for the illuminated reticle....

Please let us know the best deal you find on the VX6 HD with the firedot/TMOA - I am seriously considering it also. Thanks!

Ordered my second scope. I ended up going with the Leupold VX-6HD 3-18x50 with the TMOA reticle. I went and looked and I liked both the Firedot and TMOA reticles, but wanted the option of using it as a target scope if I ever wanted to.
I found it for about $350 less than most retailers so I was pleased, but still about $400 more than the old discontinued VX-6 model. I figured if I'm spending that kind of money I might as well spend a few hundred more and get the newest model with the upgrades.
Can't wait to get them both mounted up and go shooting.

Well, I will say that among these three scopes that you have compared: 1. Swaro Z5--didn't like the reticle options, too thick, but nice glass 2. Zeiss HD5--too bulky, wasn't impressed by the glass 3. Vortex HD LH--probably my second choice ....If I am to make a choice between them, then I will be looking at Zeiss but have you tried Leupold? You just have to try it cause it comes with a lifetime warranty and costs about $700. with its low light clarity and capability, you won't have anything to regret. That is for me, and sometimes they say it depends on individuals eye sight. But I have never regretted using it and I don't think I will in the nearest future. I hope I helped. Good luck

If low light clarity/extending your minutes at dawn/dusk is key, the single most effective thing one can do is dial the power setting down.
The second single most effective thing would be to buy a scope with high quality glass.
Maybe vice versa, but both are way more important than anything offered by a huge bell. This.
Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

I think you chose a couple of outstanding scopes! You made GREAT choices!!!! you will love both of them. I had a custom BDC turret made by Swaro for my 5-25 Z-5, works perfectly on the 6.5 Weatherby. I have the V-6, 1-6 on my AR, amazing optics for the $$.
