What do ya'll think of Salt Lick building in Grapevine? Haven't ever tried theirs but welcoming a new place to try. Sounds like their property will be beautiful, 200 year old oaks with outdoor seating.

I disagree with that. I know plenty of locals, including myself, that have been going there for a long time. It was a lot better before it became well known, and extremely busy

Shoot, we have been going to Salt Lick Driftwood location for years. It's my favorite place to eat BBQ. We used to go there all the time when I was at school at SWT. I have not been there in years, but the BBQ was top notch, and I will certainly go to the Grapevine location when it opens.

Good grades? Not so much...

Yes, it will always be SWT to me. I would go there again in a heart beat, if I had to do it all over again. One night we were at Salt Lick and it was below freezing, probably in the 20's. We were outside waiting in the music area and they had these large jet engine looking gas heaters blowing. No one was standing within 15 feet, so I decided to warm my hands in the blast. I did it too close to the heater, and singed all my hair off both my hands! The smell of my singed hair blew over the crowd and made the crowd moan and some cleared out. I had no hair, but was able to get further away and warm. It was funny!
I actually got a ticket in Kyle on our way to Salt Lick one night. Some VERY old sheriff stopped us, and gave me a very lame ticket. I fought it, and they withdrew the ticket and dismissed it. It's the first and only time that's happened.
Salt Lick has many memories there. Kegs being moved around on dollies, music, dancing, lots of good times there. We went back, and it wasn't the same. Too many people and touristy feel.

Same thing for us.....don't think I'll go back....what I went back for no longer exists.....
