Here is a segment from a hunt we filmed on the Arrow Head 7 Ranch this past season. This is a high fence ranch that we manage to produce the biggest deer possible. We have a very aggressive management plan that includes taking deer that are 2 years old if they are not keeping up with the rest of the herd. Each property we manage has a different plan based off what our target goal is, we have ranches that we will pass 8.5yo 160" deer and we have ranches that we will harvest 190" 2 year old deer. The Arrow Head 7 happens to be one of those ranches we harvest 190" 2 year olds on.

Enjoy,

190 two year old....how in the world does this happen...I'd love to know? Are they Texas deer? Imported? What are they fed?

oh my word, the two last deer were shot from vehicle at about 10 yards....

Only thing I would say is keep that camera guy away from the muzzle of the rifle when the lady is getting ready to shoot. One slip of the finger and that camera guy is a statistic. not a smart move and I hate to see that kind of videography.

Other than that, nice deer. Not my cup of tea, but nice deer.

Years of selective breeding. South Tx genetics with a little bit of northern blood. Unfortunately these deer were fed L&E, I believe they would be a lot bigger if the LO would take my advise and feed Double Down.

90% of the clients I personally guide will harvest deer out of my ranch truck or jeep, high fence, low fence, or no fence. The deer on the ranches I hunt are pretty gentle. You can hunt out of a vehicle with no problems. I am not a fan of sitting in a blind for hours when I can hunt safari-style and have better luck. The camera guy was behind the shooter also, nothing unsafe about the hunt. The deer were also at 50+ yards.

Not my cup of tea but I really like the look of that last one. Congrats to all your hunters.

Very nice bucks.

If those 2 year olds look like that why wouldn't you give them a couple more years to reach maturity?

I would love to see the mass and character points that would grow. Is it harder to pattern them at the feeder as they get older?

have read on here once the deer reach over 200inches, the price tag for most of these hunters becomes unattainable. Its a business decision, more than a management decision.

The price tag on a 190 inch 2 yo deer might be 3500 since the cost for feeding them is not much relative to a 6-8 yo deer. The 6-8 yo 240 class would be priced well over 10K due to the extra years of feed and having to maintain that kind of herd. You minimize the buyer opportunity once you are at the level of cost.

I of course am not affiliated with this ranch at all, and these prices are just guesses and are probably WAY off, but the point is still valid...

funny but the first thing I noticed on this video is that I saw nobody with ear protection - shooting out of a cab of a truck seems like it would blow everyones ears away

They removed the video because their Camo did not match the Powerstroke's interior.

Just playing to each his own.

But those deer seemed in poor condition. Ribs showing, pelvis's showing and scraggly fur. Looked like a bunch of old bony hound dogs with huge racks on them. To many in the herd or not enough groceries.

You harvest two year olds that are less than 190" because they're not keeping up with the herd on the Arrowhead 7 Ranch? All 463 acres of it? BS. You shoot two year olds because you're buying stocker bucks or you're a breeder and being required to by TPWD.

From your website...

This season we are offering low and high fence whitetail deer hunts on several ranches in the George West, Three Rivers, and Tilden area. All of our ranches are managed and we feed 365 days a year. We corn our ranch roads daily to keep our wildlife patterned. We have ranches that are set up for bow hunting and can only be bow hunted. Rifle hunting is not allowed on these ranches. Our Rifle hunting ranches are open to bow hunters.

We have comfortable 2-3 man box/tower blinds with 1 or 2 feeding stations at each blind. We strive to provide a high quality, yet affordable whitetail deer hunt. By only taking MATURE deer we have built up our ranches into PRIME HUNTING RANCHES. Our focus on these SOUTH TEXAS TROPHY HUNTS is to provide our customers with the opportunity to harvest MATURE BUCKS.

WHAT A JOKE! You do realize you're trying to pass this BS off on some very experienced hunters, landowners and ranchers, right? If you're shooting pen raised deer out of the truck over corn then say so and quit trying to pass it off as a hunt. The Arrowhead 7 owners pride themselves on being great Christians, per their website.
