The usual excuse - As soon as I get some time.

1981 Jeep Wagoneer w/33" BFG ATs
I have got most of the parts I need. Mostly used, some new engine goodies.
4" lift springs, new lights on the corners, a custom built used hydroboost brake system (for the bigger wheels/towing), and I'm going to weld the front diff., etc.
For the engine (AMC 360) I have a hot RV cam/lifters/push rods/roller tip rocker arms for the extra lift of the cam, used Edelbrock Performer intake + a used Holley 4850 (truck version of a 4650) with a 4150 rear metering block for when I step into it, an HEI cut for an AMC with an MSD coil, plus I'm going to gasket match and some light porting on the heads, and a few other things.

Most of all I have the cast iron exhaust manifolds from a '79 Cherokee that are shaped sort of like shorty headers, but they are QUIET.

Comments, suggestions?

I would have gone with a 87-95 350/700r4 or at least fuel Injection. Why the "welded front diff"?

To lock the front axle.
I have an NP-208 transfer case that is 'part-time'. In 4wd-High the front drive shaft & differential doesn't turn at all. And I can use the locking front hubs to only lock one wheel if I need 4wd and 1 front wheel pulling for tight turns.

EDIT: I can fuel inject it, but I'm looking at $1k to do it.

You could probably find a Holley projection kit somewhere pretty cheap if you look around.

For a vehicle that's going to sit most of the time and is not 100% stock, electronic ignition (HEI) 1st and fuel injection 2nd. That just my opinion so....

If it's gonna see any street time at all I'd skip the welded front diff. Ask me how I know that's a bad idea.

I guess I wasn't very clear about how a part-time transfer case works.
(I made a mistake before. In 4wd-High and the hubs unlocked, the front driveshaft and differential turn, but the front wheels are not pulling. In 2wd-High and the hubs unlocked, the driveshaft and diff don't turn. When the hubs are unlocked with either, the front wheels just free spin like a 2wd truck or car.)
I know how hard it is to turn when the front axle is locked on other transfer cases. It can be a full on nightmare. Thanks for the heads up.

It's going to see plenty of street time, but it won't be a daily driver. I was thinking of painting it a flat, dark, hunters green.

When I parked it for the upgrades, I had the stock 2bbl tuned so well it was getting 14mph on the hwy. I've had the thing on a 35*-40* sideways angle and the carb didn't miss a lick. It has a 2.61:1 low range, and will climb a brick wall.

EDIT: Oops, my mistake. Edit in italics.

looks like a fun project. I have a 91GW and it's been fun to bring back to life. Have you checked out IFSJA.org? You may be able to source some used pats from folks over there.

Thanks!

Yes, I'm very familiar with IFSJa.org. I was the original admin of the Texas local chapter - TxFSJa.org. But I guess there just isn't enough Texas Full Size Jeepers to keep it going. So now Elliott runs it and the CustomPowerBrake.com site I built for him, and only uses me as a consultant when spammer/hacker problems pop up.
